Hillside cottage is set on the owners working dairy farm and has been renovated to a very good standard in 2020, an ideal getaway for friends or family alike wanting to explore the Shropshire countryside. The property is situated 1½ miles from Malpas, and the historic city of Chester, with its famous races and excellent selection of bars, shops and restaurants, is just 18 miles away. Other places worth visiting, within easy driving distance, include Chester Zoo, 28 miles, Blue Planet Aquarium, 30 miles and Beeston Castle, 18 miles. Cholmondeley Castle Gardens are 12 miles and Delamere Forest, with its ‘Go Ape’ treetop adventure park, is 20 miles away. North Wales is also very accessible from here, and the popular beach resorts of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Talacre are all within an hour’s drive. The town of Wrexham is 10 miles from the property, you are pretty central at this property to travel throughout England or Wales. Shop and pub 1½ miles, restaurant 2½ miles.

The cottage was immaculate and beautifully decorated. We loved the power shower, and the host Zoe was very kind to show our daughter around the dairy farm. It is out in a lovely part of the country and we enjoyed going to nearby Whitchurch and a country park. We had some challenges initially with communication, as it was very unclear who was managing and who the host was. I had tried calling the number I was given but never got a response. This caused us to run into other problems including finding the place as there was a roadblock which we hadn't been informed of, and didn't know who to call. We also had to make a bed up ourselves after a stresful arrival in the dark, and dodging the farm dog! I would recommend the cottage as a lovely place to escape to, but just be aware it is not managed by the lovely host herself when you first book.

We throughly enjoyed our week at Hillside cottage, would recommend and hope to visit again ourselves. Good location for visiting many castles, halls and beautiful gardens.

Wow what a find!! No complaints whatsoever and was greeted by the owner on arrival, oh and the farm dog who was lovely lol. Nice clean little cottage on the end of the hosts house on a working diary farm, even watched the cows having a brush lol.... Will most definitely visit again, we'll worth the money and it was spotles with the most comfy beds I've ever slept in!!
