Blockley is a historic community located only three miles outside of Moreton-in-Marsh. It is known for its honey-colored buildings and picturesque village green, as well as its two outstanding pubs, which serve hearty fare and quality ale. The community serves as a great jumping off point for hikes and bike rides through the picturesque Cotswolds countryside, with the Macmillan Way, the Heart of England Way, and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all passing through or near it. In the nearby town of Moreton-in-Marsh, you'll find charming cafes, delectable dining, and unique shopping to suit any taste. Many of the town's buildings date back to the 18th century. It has its own train station and is located where the Paddington line from London meets the other lines. Moreton-In-Marsh is home to the largest one-day agricultural exhibition in the United Kingdom, the Moreton Show; the Moreton Beer Festival; the yearly French Market; and a large outdoor market on Tuesdays. This 12th-century market town in the heart of the Cotswolds is also home to a monthly farmers' market, a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, and a variety of other fairs and festivals. Bourton-on-the-Water, not far away, is a charming town in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty renowned as the "Venice of the Cotswolds" due to the presence of the winding River Windrush in its heart. Cheltenham, a popular spa town known for its annual horse racing event in March that culminates with the Gold Cup race, is also not too far away. Blockley is ideally located for exploring the Cotswolds on foot or by car, and it is also close to Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester, and the port city of Gloucester.
