About this property

This 400-year-old, former keepers' cottage, rests in the centre of the Cotswolds' town of Tetbury, close to a host of amenities. The cottage is a lovely, pet-friendly property, ideal for a couple wanting to explore in the stunning countryside of the surrounding Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty, as well as being within easy reach of Cirencester, Stroud and the city of Gloucester. There is a designated parking space at the back of the property, on a small gravel driveway, as well as some patio furniture, so you can enjoy a morning coffee outside. Enter the property into the bright kitchen/diner, with white painted walls and tiled floors, as well as a large dining table and an exposed stone wall housing a feature cabinet. Your pet will feel at home here too, with a dog bowl and plenty of toys thoughtfully provided by the owner. Head through to the sitting room, where the exposed stone wall houses a fireplace with a woodburning stove to fill the space with warmth on a cool evening, as well as a sofa to relax on whilst enjoying something on TV or curling up with a book from the bookshelf. Head up the carpeted staircase, with a quirky banister made of rope, where you'll find a storage cupboard with chest of drawers and hanging space for your belongings, as well as the bedroom, which features a super-king-size bed, TV and idyllic window seat. The vibrant red family bathroom offers a large and comfortable bath. There are several pubs and shops just metres away from the cottage, as well as a market hall that hosts a busy general market every Saturday, a nod to the town's historic roots, during the Middle Ages Tetbury flourished as one of the major markets for the Cotswolds' wool trade. Visit the nearby Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the largest collections of rare shrubs and trees in Europe, and you can even find a beach in the middle of the countryside at the Cotswold Country Park Lake and Beach, which has a lagoon with a large inflatable obstacle course, or for the less adventurous, you can hire a boat for an afternoon. The market town of Stroud, resting below the Cotswold Hills, known for its steep streets and café culture, is a short drive away, as is Cirencester, on the fringes of the AONB, with an amphitheatre, museum and several lovely parks to stroll through, while the cities of Gloucester, Cheltenham and Bath are all within easy reach. Explore the beauty of the rolling hills and picturesque villages of the Cotswolds on foot or bicycle by venturing along the Cotswold Way, a 102-mile-long stretch between Bath and Chipping Campden, encompassing several historic landmarks, as well as The Winchcombe Way, which takes in the stunning Sudeley Castle, and climb Cleve Hill, the highest common in the Cotswolds, offering views of the Malvern Hills AONB and as far reaching as Wales. With so much opportunity to explore your incredible surroundings, make The Cottage 5b the base for your next Cotswolds getaway.

Tetbury's origins date back to 681AD, but it was during the Middle Ages that it flourished as one of the major markets for the Cotswolds' wool trade. Nowadays The Market Hall hosts busy general market every Wednesday, while the town is something of a mecca for antique hunters, with several shops in the town and regular fairs in the vicinity. Close by is Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the largest collections of rare shrubs and trees in Europe, whilst further afield are the cities of Bath and Cheltenham, as well as Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and other attractions such as the internationally renowned Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust.
