Barrowby is a pretty village, situated close to the borders of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. Barrowby has good local facilities, with a butchers, post office, village store and a public house. The market town of Grantham is just 1.5 miles away, and was once an old stage coaching route to London, and still boasts several former coaching inns today. The National Trust properties of Woolsthorpe Manor, birthplace and home of Isaac Newton, and Belton House, the location of BBC's Pride and Prejudice are worth a visit, as are Belvoir Castle, Grimsthorpe Castle, Melton Museum, Millgate Museum and Barnsdale Gardens, home to Jeff Hamilton's 38 inspiring gardens. The grandchildren loved the pool . The house is very clean and had everything you needed. I would recommend this to anyone. There is plenty of interesting places to visit . The owners was always there if you needed to ask them anything and also very friendly.

Children all loved swimming every day. Lots of games of hide n seek.House beautifully decorated for Christmas, welcome pack was lovely. Lots of pool towels supplied. We will definitely be booking again.

Having an indoor pool and sauna was a real bonus. The pool was just the right temperature and about four foot deep throughout. Plenty of inflatables, pool side seating with bathing towels and mats at our disposal. The pool room itself was always cosy and warm. Thereâs a full sized table tennis table with bats and balls inside the spacious garage which is accessible from indoors. The full sized pool table was a really good one with various sets of balls including numbered ones which we used for our nightly matches. Outside the well maintained garden is a decent size for outdoor games plus beyond the gate at the bottom of the garden thereâs access to a large field used locally for football etc. The sofas in the sitting room and the snug were all super comfortable and having three large TVs proved handy when football, rugby union and Strictly were all on at the same time. The kitchen is well equipped and clean with a great selection of matching crockery, utensils and serving dishes. Thereâs almost everything youâd need (although a slight shortage of teaspoons and saucepan lids!) We came a little unstuck as a family of four couples (siblings) as we all bring home prepared frozen meals and didnât check beforehand how much freezer space there was so we were fighting for room in the under counter freezer. The house is situated on a residential road but once inside you arenât really aware of that and having a Co-op store just a five minute walk away proved to be very handy. The guys played golf at a couple of clubs their favorite being Belton Park which is situated within a National Trust estate. They said it was stunning and were thrilled that the course was shared by the local deer! All in all itâs a house to recommend although as one of my brothers remarked âitâs a bit like home from home - lots of niggling little jobs need sortingâ.
