Amazing walks can be found straight from the doorstep for you and your four-legged friends and the property is very close to Newark which is a market town and civil parish sitting within the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire. Resting amongst the River Trent and the important Roman road of Fosse Way, it offers its visitors plenty to explore. Growing around the historic Newark Castle, which is now ruins that boast picturesque gardens, and a bustling marketplace, the town is now lined with a plethora of historic buildings waiting to be discovered. At the centre of the town you can find a wealth of historic wonders, enjoy a refreshing beverage in plenty of local pubs, including one of the oldest pubs in the town, or marvel at the tallest church in the county; The Church of St. Mary Magdalene, a Grade I listed building notable for its tower and octagonal spire, it’s just one of many architectural delights in the town.

We stayed at the Firs Retreat for my 30th birthday and we all loved the house and would definitely stay again.The house is very spacious, which is perfect for large groups as there was plenty of room for us all. I believe the upstairs had been renovated and it did look gorgeous with four bedrooms and a bathroom up there. Each bedroom (but one) had double beds and 3 of these has en-suite toliets. In addition to this, there is 3 large bathrooms so plenty of toilets and bathrooms to shower in, one of the bathrooms even has a jacuzzi bath. The living area is also huge with plenty of seating (there was 9 of us in total). There are two large tables one in the living area and one in the kitchen which both seat around 8 people. Games, DVDs and books are also there for you to use. Essentials like washing up liquid, tea towels, sponge, kitchen roll, plenty of toilet roll are provided. Plenty of cuterly, plates, dishes, mugs, Prosecco & wine glasses etc. as well as plastic ones for outside. Fresh eggs were also provided which was a lovely extra.For those with pets, we had two dogs with us and the garden is gated/fenced so they can’t escape (& a dog bin is provided). Doors are everywhere too so you can easily stop them from wandering into the bedrooms/upstairs. The Jacuzzi area is absolutely lovely and is all under cover with lights so you can make the most of the jacuzzi all year round.The hosts are very friendly and are around/contactable if you need them. Plenty of parking (we parked 4 cars).Would highly recommend & would return in the future.
