We booked 3 cottages for the bank holiday weekend for a family celebration and enjoyed the views across the Crouch. We were pleased to have been offered an upgrade from No.4 to No.1. However, after a long journey, it would have been nice if there was a pint of milk in the fridge.The cottages were mostly clean but some of the furnishings were a little tired. It was a very hot weekend but we were unable to open some of the windows as they had been locked and there wasn't a key.The cottages were very poorly stocked for towels and kitchen equipment. We had 12 people staying in the 3 cottages and it was a struggle to find enough crockery, cutlery, mugs and glasses for everyone. One small cafetiere to share across the 3 cottages! After the first night, the cleaner found a kettle as one of the cottages didn't have one and said we could take anything that we needed from No.5, which no one was staying in. The accommodation was advertised as having a barbecue and, as the weather was good, we planned to have one on the second night. We contacted the owner as we couldn't find the barbecue and were told there wasn't one. We went out to buy one, which the owner didn't reimburse us for, and left it at the accommodation, so at least the next guest will be able to use it.If you book a stay here, my advice would be to take spare towels and kitchen equipment!
