Making a delightful romantic retreat in idyllic surroundings, this charming shepherd’s hut is perfectly positioned for hikers, wildlife watchers and sightseers keen to discover a serene corner of the Essex landscape. Within easy reach of the Blackwater Estuary, and with the New Hall Wine Estate just around the corner, the property is ideally situated for long rural walks along St Peter’s Way. The village of Purleigh has a characterful pub and a friendly shop, and the local town of Maldon (4.5 miles) offers a choice of great places to eat and drink. Exploring the area further, you will have a wealth of landmarks and attractions to visit, including Beeleigh Abbey Gardens, Promenade park, the Combined Military Services Museum, RHS Garden Hyde Hall and Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, all within 7 miles.

The property is set within 10 acres of serene countryside, with horses in some of the surrounding paddocks. A few steps lead up and into the beautifully updated hut, which has been charmingly decorated and characterfully furnished. A central wall-mounted dining table has a couple of seats, perfect for enjoying a light meal or brunch which you can prepare in the thoughtfully organised kitchenette to one side. The hut also features a lovely wood burner to unwind in front of after a great day out. At the far end there’s a lovely double bed alongside storage space and a useful pull-out mattress for an additional younger guest. The accommodation is rounded off with a refreshing shower room.

Back outside, the serene garden is a lovely space to relax in. Although not fully enclosed, the area is tranquil and private, with privacy screening, a fire pit, ample outdoor furniture, a BBQ and a soothing hot tub for you to luxuriate in. Parking is available for one car (a second on request) in a parking area which is about 250 metres away, reached via a grassy track with a steep incline – reasonable levels of fitness are necessary.
