Curry Farm is a charming detached holiday cottage tucked away in a large Nature Reserve near the peaceful village of Bradwell-on-Sea. With its own private driveway and a warm welcome extended to your four-legged companion, this relaxed rural retreat is ideal for families or friends looking to unwind in the countryside. Step inside to find a homely sitting room with a TV and electric fire, just the ticket for those cooler evenings. The kitchen comes fully equipped for all your culinary exploits, while the separate dining room offers ample space for everyone to gather and tuck in. Out the back, a generously sized enclosed lawn provides the perfect spot for a game of fetch or a leisurely alfresco meal when the sun’s shining. Set within 65 acres of private Nature Reserve, the grounds surrounding Curry Farm are a patchwork of wildflower meadows, woodland and a lake, home to a remarkable butterfly population, with 36 species recorded in the past 12 years. You’ll also be less than a mile from the coast, with lovely walks along the sea wall and beach right on your doorstep. When it's time to retire for the night, choose from two inviting bedrooms: a double with an en-suite featuring a basin and WC, and a twin room, both providing a peaceful spot to catch your rest. A separate bathroom, complete with a bath, handheld shower, basin and WC, serves the bedrooms. Local amenities are easily covered by Bradwell Community Shop and Post Office, which stocks a wide range of goods, while The Green Man and The Marina Bar are solid picks for a bite to eat. History lovers won’t want to miss the ancient Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall, founded by St Cedd in 654, or the nearby Roman road and wall remnants. Nature enthusiasts can visit the Essex Wildlife Trust and Bird Observatory on the sea wall, and even book a tour aboard Radio Caroline’s Ross Revenge during the summer months. For a fantastic day full of adventure, why not visit Tiptree Heath, a nature reserve brimming with wildlife, or explore Wallasea Island Wild Coast project, Europe's largest man-made nature reserve. For something a bit different, pay a visit to the Tiptree Jam Museum where you can learn about the history of this delightful treat, and for those with a passion for transport, The Mangapps Railway & Museum is a must visit. Take a trip to Mersea Island, the UK's most easterly inhabited island, offering delightful coastal walks, beaches and seafood. Or head out to Tollesbury Wick, an expansive salt marsh that is home to a wide variety of bird species. Nearby, Northey Island (open April to September) offers a unique walking experience via tidal causeway, while the towns of Maldon and Burnham provide great dining options. Whether you're seeking calm, history, or outdoor adventure, Curry Farm offers you the ideal base for a memorable Essex escapade.
Bradwell-on-Sea is a tranquil village steeped in history and natural beauty, perched near the edge of the Dengie Peninsula. One of its standout landmarks is the 7th-century Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall, one of the oldest surviving churches in England, set against sweeping coastal views and peaceful salt marshes. The village itself is quiet and unspoilt, perfect for walkers, birdwatchers, and those craving a slower pace. The Kings Head pub offers a warm welcome and hearty fare, while nearby Bradwell Village Store provides all the essentials you might need during your stay. Just a short drive away, the charming village of Tillingham and the historic town of Maldon offer more to explore, from riverside walks and independent shops to traditional tearooms.
