    Mrs Cotter-harris – 1 Jul 2021
" Everything we needed was supplied. Such a relaxing getaway. The pool was perfect for the heatwave we had. The perfect place to get away from everyday busy lives. We will be back. "
    Mrs Poole – 1 Jun 2021
" Ian and Sally are very welcoming and nothing is any trouble , the Royal arms is just a 5 min walk and serves lovely food. Really didn't want to come home to normality "
    Ms Howard – 1 May 2021
"We had a warm welcome from the owners and felt relaxed as soon as we were there. The terrace is the perfect place for breakfast and morning coffee in which to start the day."

" We had a warm welcome from the owners and felt relaxed as soon as we were there. The terrace is the perfect place for breakfast and morning coffee in which to start the day. The village shop in Whitchurch is also a cafe with lovely food and cakes! It’s a central place from which to explore both Herefordshire and South Wales. Symonds Yat is a must ! We had a lovely week there and would highly recommend it. "

" My wife and I had to cancel a week in Scotland as their lock down exit plan was too late for our booking. We booked The Hideout at shortish notice and have no regrets that we did. The cottage is pinned on Google maps so there should be no problem in finding it, but the road is single track and narrow so if you drive a Range Rover that has never been outside of Chelsea then be prepared. We were met by Ian the owner who gave us a covid safe hand over and explained all that we needed to know about the cottage. There is a bedroom with a double bed and enough storage space for two people for a couple of weeks. The bathroom is large enough, with a large shower cubicle that is big enough for two people if you like that sort of thing. The main room is a lounge/kitchen with large patio doors opening on to the balcony and offering a wide view of the valley. The kitchen has all you will need [there is an undercounter fridge but no freezer'] and a dishwasher. All untensils/pans/dishes are provided. Under normal conditions my wife and I would be eating out when on holiday but due to the Covid restrictions we did eat at the cottage more than we normally would. There is a two seater sofa in the living area, my wife and I are used to a sofa each at home but we soon got used to it. There is a log burning stove in the living area but we found the cottage warm enough that we did not need to light it. Sadly, although the weather/temperatures were great for our time there, it was not quite warm enough to make use of the pool on the decking area. The cottage is a ten minute drive from Whitchurch and the A40 dual carriageway, so ideally located for touring the local area. Whitchurch is the nearest store for groceries etc, but the pub in Llangrove [The Royal Arms ] does Sunday lunches and evening meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to friends and family. "

" The Hide-out is a lovely cosy place, extremely well appointed with beautiful views across the valley. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area. Ian’s excellent local knowledge was appreciated "
    Mrs Hennessy – 1 Oct 2020
" The supply of kindling and logs was very welcome, it’s always a pain having to buy extra wood when on holiday. Feedback was invited so we made a couple of suggestions for small improvements e.g. a shelf or somewhere to put food. "

    Mrs Allen – 1 Sep 2020
" The Hideout was a little gem to us, hidden away from all the hussle, bussle of everyday life. We stayed for 2wks, the first 2 days was about kicking of our shoes and relaxing and finding the nearest pub which was just a walk away. The village itself is small and quaint, with access to many walks. Ian made us very welcomed from the moment we arrived till the day we left, nothing was too much trouble for him. When we arrived there was cake on the table, milk in the fridge and teabags to make a lovely cuppa which was very welcomed. I would highly recommend The Hideout. "
    Mr Ley – 1 Aug 2020
" I didnt need a lot of the things I'd packed. I loved the tranquil location. The owner was really nice and friendly. The pool is a bonus this is a real haven for peace and quiet. I have already shared this accommodation with friends and will look to return. "
    Mrs Searle – 1 Aug 2020
" Owners were friendly and helpful. Wonderful views and local walks. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely retreat. "
    Mrs Craig – 1 Jul 2020
"The description was very accurate, we had a great time! It was especially good to take the dog for no extra charge, it's all included in the price which is excellent and unheard of these days."
    Miss Cumbo – 1 Jul 2020
" The hosts were lovely, there if you needed them but also gave you the privacy you might like. Stunning views from all angles!! The garden is gorgeous and on lovely days the pool is a real plus. Lots of beautiful places to visit around. Just the break we needed and was hoping for The dogs and my daughter had an amazing time. "
    Mr Ayling
" Extremely pleasant hosts who had the magic ability to be around when you needed them but completely detached the rest of the time to create a really relaxing environment. A constant supply of logs, kindling and matches provided the small touches that other places often forget, and a second helping of the cake later in our stay. The views are stunning, sat in a very comfortable leather sofa, and, for better weather, a balcony and a swimming pool are delightful. The local pub was within walking distance with an open fire, good food, great beer and, if you are interested, a better glass of Prosecco that is normally reserved for Ian's wife Sally behind the bar. A great environment for walking our dog, lots of paths on your doorstep to take a different walk every day with far ranging views in to both Herefordshire and Monmouthshire. A very pleasant 17 night stay. "
    Ms Crompton
" The views from the balcony are spectacular. The owners are very friendly and offer advice about local places to visit. We ate at the local pub, the Royal Arms, which is just 5 minutes walk away and the food is great. The staff and regulars at the pub are very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely stay here again. "
    Mr Flanaghan
" We absolutely loved our time here, the cottage is beautiful with stunning views and really has everything and more for an enjoyable stay. There are lots of walks near by which were recommended by the owners Ian and Sally who are wonderful attentive hosts. From the constant wagging tails it's safe to say our dogs enjoyed their stay here too. It's perfect and we will be able for a returning visit again soon! "
    Mrs Greening, August 2019
" The hosts are really nice and friendly thank you so much to the both of you "

    PoochPatch
" Absolutely loved this place. Nice and peaceful with a swimming pool and great views over the countryside. Pet friendly so we could stay with our dogs and enjoy the nearby Forest of Dean. Great pub within walking distance or enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace or by the pool x "
    Ms Knight
" We didn't know much about the area. I just did a search for properties that were pet friendly and within a reasonable driving distance for us. The Hideout looked amazing so we just went for it. The property is amazing, really cute with a lovely terrace that you can sit on and look over the countryside with a cup of tea (or glass of wine). We were blessed with the weather too so took advantage of the swimming pool. My 2 spaniels had never seen a swimming pool before and seemed a bit concerned about me and my husband splashing about in it :-) The property is well situated for walks in the Forest of Dean (or any other adventurous activity you may wish to do). Our favourite was Symonds Yat which has spectacular walks along the River Wye. We only got back yesterday and the dogs are still worn out. If you don't have dogs, there are lots of other things in the area you can do. The local pub (also dog friendly) is only a few minutes walk away and does really good and reasonably priced food. The owners are extremely pleasant too. I can't recommend this place enough!! "
    Mrs Lee
" Our dog loved it here, he enjoyed all the nice walks, the freedom of running round in the fields belonging to the property and got on well with Ben and Zak the owners dogs, as we got on well with Ian the owner. Sally his wife was away, looking forward to meeting her next time we go. We always go self catering, The Hideout and The Lookout are at the very top of our list now. There was cake for us when we arrived, there were no end of towels and toilet rolls for the bathroom, towels for the pool as well as everything you’ll need for the kitchen while you’re there including tea, coffee, salt and pepper. I mention all this because so many places have been stripped of everything when you arrive. Ian and Sally have tried to think of everything to make your stay more welcoming and comfortable. There’s a pub just a few minutes walk away in the village and lots of places to visit, we like Symonds Yat for walks along the river and into the forest but must admit because we were lucky with the weather we really enjoyed relaxing round the pool and our walks out from the property. Brilliant place to go, will be back soon unless everyone else beats us to it! Ray, Chris and Benson x "
    Ms Hollman-dryden
" Great accommodation with wonderful interrupted views. As the first guests to stay in The Hide Out we were told that somethings may have been overlooked. The only thing we couldn't find we couldn't find were oven gloves but given we didn't cook much (lots of nice pubs near by ) wasn't a problem. The swimming pool was a bonus after long walks around the area. Have already recommended to several friends and we would like to return in the winter months, there's a lovely wood burner. Oh and last but certainly not least the owners and their dogs are very friendly "

"Go to Whitchurch and it is a straight road to Llangrove. The owners Ian and Sally Power were very helpful, everything you needed for a relaxing holiday, they thought of every little detail. The bed was very comfy and a very large walk-in shower. The views were magnificent from a very large floor to ceiling window in the lounge area. The woodburner made the evenings very cosy with unlimited wood and kindling from the store outside. Would highly recommend this gem of a property."

"We had a lovely few days at the Hideout. The views are gorgeous, the area around is perfect for walks (with or without dogs) Ian and his wife are just lovely. The place is small but even with two dogs we didn't feel squashed. Just gutted we couldn't use the pool! Highly recommend."
