About this property

The cottage is a charming two-bedroom holiday home set in walker’s paradise with the added benefit of being only one mile from the bustling market town of Keswick. The property has been beautifully refurbished to combine contemporary living with period character and is ideal for a family or two couples.

Walk through the front door, leave your outdoor gear in the hallway and find two comfortable bedrooms on the ground floor: a double bedroom with en-suite washroom and a twin bedroom. You will also find the family bathroom with bath and separate shower unit nearby.

Walk upstairs to discover your characterful, triple aspect open plan sitting room with dining and kitchen area. The original beams, attractive roof lines and warming wood burning stove give this room a cosy and comfortable ambience. Walk to the windows and enjoy lovely views across town to spectacular Blencathra, and Latrigg. You may even get a glimpse of shimmering Derwentwater. You will find your dining table attractively set in the centre of the delightful, fitted kitchen. Step onto your patio and imagine memorable family barbecue’s. The Cottage has been tastefully presented throughout and is a holiday home for all seasons.

Walk into the pretty market town of Keswick to browse the specialist shops and to have a bite to eat at one of its excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs. Enjoy a lake cruise on beautiful Derwentwater to experience breath-taking views of the surrounding fells. For a more challenging adventure, walk up to lovely Catbells, Skiddaw or Latrigg, Keswick’s own fell. You are perfectly placed to experience some of the most spectacular and idyllic trails in the Lake District. Right from your doorstep.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.

Handy en-suite toilet in the main bedroom as well as a large main bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. Plenty of plates, cups, cutlery and cooking pots- dishwasher and full size freezer was a bonus.

No dish cloth for wiping down work surfaces and no washing up brush. We had to purchase these and bin liners ourselves. The listing said fuel provided and whilst I accept this might not include wood for wood burner for whole stay there wasn’t even one nights wood for arrival night and no firefighters. No info on where to buy wood or where to eat out. Sofa and chairs shabby and need a clean. By the way house was put on market with local estate agent Monday of our stay. No inconvenience to us but worth noting as may explain slight sense on our part that a refresh of this accommodation is needed and ‘consumables’ had been cut back. On a positive note good location good views. Beds were very comfortable. We’ve stayed with you before and may do so again, just not at this accommodation. Happy to discuss this feedback.

Plenty of walks without moving the car & a bus stop 5 mins walk away. Our only feedback for possible improvements are that the garden is gated but not secure for small dogs and the kitchen has little if any empty cupboard space for supplies.
