Foxdown provides a comfortable base from which to explore the popular local countryside of The Lake District National Park. Situated in The Vale of Lorton, which runs from Cockermouth down to Crummock Water and Buttermere, this quaint village has a little shop only ¼ mile away and an excellent village pub and restaurant 1 mile, which can be accessed on foot in approximately 20 minutes. You have easy access to the towns of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth and Keswick, with its abundance of pubs, restaurants and shopping experiences. High Lorton is very popular with walkers and cyclists thanks to its easy access to some amazing walks and cycle routes including the Whinlatter Visitor Centre, 4 miles. With free access to England’s only true mountain forest, rising 1000ft above sea level, it provides a range of activities for all ages from forest mountain trails to the high rope adventure course, Go Ape. You can hire bikes or visit the café, it makes a great day out for all ages. Beach 14 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
