The charming village of Threlkeld is just to the east of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The steep sided Blencathra looms over Threlkeld village, a popular starting point for walking the mountain. Threlkeld's history reaches back more than 800 years; the Romans were here from the 3rd to the 8th century, followed later by the Norse. In the village the church dates back to 1578 and there are two pubs that first opened their doors in 1688.
Though only a few miles outside Keswick, the village is tranquil and unspoilt with great views of Blencathra and the Helvellyn range.

It just needed a few tweaks to improve our stay in the future. We found the bed to be v squeaky and the boiler noise was v loud in the morning. The cottage could do with a shaver power point in the bathroom. The cottage itself is finished to a high standard and would highly recommend and would love to come back again.

The cottage was well equipped, well maintained and spotlessly clean. Other reviews had mentioned the boiler in the bedroom cupboard, but we found the heating very efficient and silent.
