Trevene is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in a stunning location, perfect for walkers and families seeking direct access to Buttermere’s lakes and trails. Guests consistently praise the beautiful views, sunroom, and proximity to local pubs and cafes. The property offers ample space and comfortable beds, making it ideal for groups. While the majority of stays are highly enjoyable, some guests have noted issues with cleanliness, waste management, and worn furnishings. Overall, Trevene provides an excellent base for exploring the Lake District, with its superb setting and generous living areas standing out as highlights.
Several guests mention issues with overflowing bins, rubbish outside, and areas needing a deeper clean, such as bathrooms and floors. However, many reviews still describe the house as comfortable and enjoyable, suggesting that cleanliness is generally acceptable but could be improved.
The location is universally praised, with guests loving the direct access to walks, lakes, and local amenities. The views from the cottage are frequently highlighted as a major positive.
Most guests find the cottage spacious and the beds comfortable, but several mention that the sofas are worn and uncomfortable, and one review notes a damp issue in a bedroom. Overall, comfort is good but could be enhanced with some updates.
The cottage is described as well-equipped, with a great kitchen, sunroom, and ample space for groups. Some maintenance issues are noted, such as the fridge, oven door, and need for a kitchen update, but these do not overshadow the generally positive feedback on facilities.
There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Brilliant location, very comfortable house, great kitchen and lovely conservatory with stunning views up Buttermere. You can do many walks from straight out the house and it's only a 10 minute drive to Honister or 15 minutes to Seatoller for many other walks. Local pub the Bridge is a welcome alternative to cooking and there's a lovely cafe next to it. All in all brilliant stay !

A peaceful location, perfect for walkers. Some roads are narrow, twisty and steep so may not suit everyone. Well equipped and spacious cottage with beautiful views. WiFi connection but no phone signal. As per previous reviews, there is an issue with the bins which were overflowing with 2 bin bags left on top when we arrived. These were soon pecked open by the birds. There is simply not enough space in the one general waste bin given the collections are only every 2-3 weeks. The owner could alleviate the issue by applying for another larger general waste bin, and paying a local person to help supervise it. There is some misleading information left in the cottage implying that food waste can be left in the garden waste bin but after talking to neighbours, we think that only applies to unbagged, uncooked, vegetable/fruit waste. The local council are going to be rolling out food waste collections eventually which will help. It's a shame this place is spoilt by bins.
