Electric heaters, electricity and bed linen included. Travel cot and highchair. Wifi.. Enclosed lawned garden to front and rear with patio and picnic bench. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. . This semi-detached former railway cottage enjoys an idyllic setting above a disused railway cutting and the River Derwent. The cottage benefits from elevated views towards Skiddaw, the tip of Blencathra, and Latrigg, to the rear. There are 17 fells visible from the front bedroom, from Cat Bells to Grizedale Pike. Inside the rooms are comfortable and cosy, yet quite spacious, with two living rooms crowned with an ornamental fireplace . It is situated on a low hill, surrounded by fields, yet only 1 mile from Keswick town centre and ½ mile from the village of Portinscale. There is a footpath along the river into Keswick, where you will discover a wealth of amenities, or Portinscale is a 10-minute walk and boasts a pub, cafés, restaurant and marina. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Lovely cottage, great location, big bedrooms, lots of walking locally.No washing machine, and only small dishwasher, shower very weak.

Fantastic location if you want to be walking distance (3km avoiding country/busy roads) to Keswick, but out in the peace and quiet. Very nice and friendly cafe and pub (we didn’t visit the pub) in Portinscale less than 15 min walk away. Great location for walks, eg from cottage circular route round Derwentwater is about 17km or up to top of Cat Bells and back same route about 11km. Blencathra and Skiddaw 10 min drive (you could walk to Skiddaw it’d just add on about 3km at the start and end). House is really nice: very clean throughout, seemed like new carpets, well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds and sofas. Only thing stopping full stars is the shower which just has quite low water pressure, but it works totally fine. We plan to come back.

This is a decent sized, comfortable cottage. Adequately equipped. Beautiful location, easy drive or walk into Keswick. Lovely garden. Recommended as good value.
