The former Royal Oak Hotel, in the centre of Keswick, was architecturally converted into individual holiday apartments. All the amenities Keswick offers are available right on the doorstep, so your car need never leave its allocated parking space.
Loft 10 is an extremely bright apartment at the top of the building, accessed through a communal entrance with stairs leading up to the third floor. Renovated to a high standard with a contemporary style, it is delightfully decorated and enjoys stunning views over the rooftops of Keswick towards Skiddaw.
Derwentwater and the Theatre by the Lake are just a 10-minute stroll away through the beautifully landscaped Hope Park Memorial Gardens, which also features mini-golf, crazy golf and putting. The Keswick Launch Company operates regular trips around the lake each day, with numerous drop-off points if you wish to continue exploring on foot.
Keswick is renowned for its spectacular setting, surrounded by mountains, a vast array of outdoor activity shops, and a great selection of pubs and restaurants. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards. My first impression wasn't great. The entrance hallway inside the flat needed a good sweeping up, and there was no hand soap in the bathroom (it is many years since I have been in a holiday cottage where there was not some soap to wash your hands when you arrive). Nor were there any bin liners (very much a necessity for the kitchen bin). Rubbish has to be taken out to a bin store round the corner which was difficult to find, full and confusing.First morning, the shower was unusable. Either cold or scalding. We called cottages.com and they did send someone that afternoon (Sunday) which was very impressive. They also came back the next day and changed the shower head. After that, provided you had it on eco, it was okay. I suggest that maintenance team use blue overshoes in future so as not to leave dirty footprints.Window blind in the bedroom doesn't full fit the space, and it isn't blackout either. Given that this is a roof window right above the bed, it meant that I didnt get much sleep. All the windows would give lovely views, but the units have gone, and they are filthy too, which rather spoils it. Also need to watch the handles as they have been greased/oiled which comes off very easily when you open/close them. The other non-roof window doesn't open (stuck by paint we think), which was a great pity as it was warm and it would have been nice to let a bit of fresh air in. The blind on that window has come unstitched too, leaving an overal feeling that the flat, once lovely, is being neglected by lack of maintenance.Overal I was disappointed with this flat. It has the potential to be really special, and maybe I am being a bit harsh, but first impressions really do count.

Great location and stunning views.Had everything we needed. Could have done with more attention re general cleaning/dusting.Beds comfortable, could have done with a fan when we first arrived but generally the flat kept relatively cool despite the stunning weather!

Old and poor equipment in kitchen and not clean. Also the laundry was not clean.Location is perfect.Be aware of the number of stairs.
