There are only three houses in the tiny, picturesque hamlet of Seldom Seen. Tucked away on the banks of Comb Beck adjoining the village of Thornthwaite. Oak Lea lies at the top of the hill where the road ends and the ascent of Whinlatter begins. This is a truly beautiful location in a woodland setting with Comb Beck running at the side of the property in the lower part of the garden (which is accessed via a locked gate, key available) and with stunning views towards Skiddaw.
Oak Lea is a semi-detached cottage with views from all windows, with walking and mountain biking opportunities available from the doorstep. The traditional cosy two-bedroom cottage features, a double and twin bedroom, and the bathroom includes a shower over the bath for added convenience providing comfortable accommodation for a small group or family. The open plan living and dining area is equipped with an inviting open fire and smart TV, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for relaxation and entertainment. The well-equipped kitchen, with a breakfast bar, allows for convenient meal preparation. The original wash house now contains all the laundry facilities and the bike store.

Bassenthwaite Lake is just a short stroll from Oak Lea and on the way there it is possible to see the nesting place for the Osprey.

Had a wonderful time at Oak Lea, Don was a fantastic host and great with local knowledge and information. We loved the quiet peaceful location !It was lovely to see the red squirrel visit most days in the garden. We had great walks from the doorstep and some fantastic views.Keswick is a lovely place to visit for local amenities and some nice café/ restaurants + shops.Cockermouth has some great little shops a supermarket about 15min drive.This is pretty much a great central location to visit all surrounding areas without spending to much travel time ! We will be back 🙂

A lovely cottage in a tucked out the way location. We had a great holiday and enjoyed the easy access to Whinlatter Forest and the Northern Lakes. The outside secure storage for Bikes/Paddle boards is very useful and keeps it separate from the cottage itself. The sound of the stream was very relaxing and we enjoyed seeing the wildlife, including Red Squirrels, in the garden.
