Pitcairn House is located in a quiet residential street, just off the town centre, there’s ample street parking and two off road parking spaces meaning you can leave the car behind and enjoy this popular market town on foot. The ground floor is home to a modern kitchen with all the mod-cons, a spacious and grand dining room, perfect for a family feast after a day of adventure. On the first floor there is a large comfortable living room with easy seating, stylish interior design and large windows which flood the space with plenty of natural daylight. All seven bedrooms are equipped with a Smart TV and have beautiful views of the surrounding fells and the Keswick town. The property was built in 1892 and has uneven floors throughout and many stairs within the property.
Keswick is full of narrow streets with independent shops and courtyards, and has an abundance of bars, pubs, restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, delis, outdoor shops, and every other type of shopping experience you could imagine. This traditional market town is full of great things to discover. If you like culture check out the Theatre by The Lake with award-winning arts and drama on the banks of Derwentwater, where you can hire a rowing boat or even take a dip if you need to cool down. For fun you could try Puzzling Place, a mind-boggling attraction based on optical illusions, or the Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the largest pencil in the world. If you want a wild day out, try The Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite, 8 miles, or The Lakes Distillery offering daily tasting and tours, also 8 miles. If you like walking, cycling, and climbing, you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes around Latrigg and Catbells, nearby you’ll find Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn to name a few.

Lovely large house, in a quiet street, in the heart of Keswick. Great for large families or a group of friends like us. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable. However, there were a couple of niggly things which could very easily be addressed and make it worth a five star review. The settings for the central heating need looking at. It kept coming on during the night 1.30am, 4.30am which made the bedrooms hot and uncomfortable for sleeping, even in November There were no spare loo rolls and as the shared bathroom on the top floor had only a third of a roll to start with, it very quickly ran out. It was no problem for us to buy some, but this is a basic we would expect when paying for a premium property. Similarly there were only three tea bags in the canister in the kitchen. A welcome pack of tea, coffee and milk would have been greatly appreciated when arriving from a long drive on a wet afternoon but we had to head straight out to shop. None of these things spoilt our stay but correcting them will make for a nicer experience for others.
