Ideally located in the heart of one of the Lake District’s most popular towns, Skiddaw View provides the ideal base from which to explore Keswick and the surrounding lakes and fells. Skiddaw View has been completely redecorated throughout in April 2018 with new curtains and some furnishings, new bedding, linen and towels and with lovely artwork on the walls of beautiful local scenes. Stretching over the first and second floors, with superb views from the second floor bedrooms, this family holiday apartment is a haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
Keswick boasts a unique mixture of tea rooms, restaurants and bars, as well as a selection of gift shops and boutiques. There are also a few museums if you are looking to feed your curiosity. Have you ever wondered where poets such as Wordsworth and Coleridge took their inspiration? Well, come and see for yourself! Perhaps a leisurely drive over the Whinlatter Pass will spark your inner poet. Not forgetting Beatrix Potter, who also used the beautiful landscapes that surround Skiddaw View for her popular book series. You will soon know why.

Great location a little difficult to find as the art gallery is no longer there it’s now a shop called The north, the yard you go through is a bit hazardous as it’s filled with slippy moss a hard brush and a bit jeyes fluid would do the job! The place itself could do with a bit of a makeover but was still comfortable one major issue is there no WiFi, in this day and age it’s a must and for that reason alone we would not book this place again if there was WiFi we definitely would have!

Disapointing. The complaints in the visitors book have been the same for several years, but nothing has been done. The oven has never been cleaned, the doors are sticky, there is mould in the shower, a window is cracked. A notice on a window on the stairs says children should be supervised as the windowsill is low, but what is needed is safety bars, and similarly a safety gate is needed at the top of the stairs. A salt and pepper pot are provided, but they are empty. The towels are hand towels, not bath towels. The entrance ally is filthy and dingy. This apartment is in an excellent location and could be a wonderful holiday stay. But it needs real attention to maintenance and to what is being offered to paying guests. Why no wifi!

The location is perfect as it is so close to the centre. There’s no parking but a permit for one of the long stay car parks is provided. We had 2 cars but we found parking close by with no problems. The place is comfortable. No internet but it made a refreshing change as the was less screen time in the evenings. The only minor point is the access alleyway is quite dark and while there there is a light outside the door, getting to the door needs a torch. Overall though, great location and would stay again.
