While the property's traditional character and amenities are well-liked, some guests suggest improvements in cleanliness and maintenance.

Several reviews mention that the cottage could benefit from a more thorough cleaning, with specific references to dust, grubbiness, and dog hair. These issues suggest that cleanliness is somewhat below average.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to Keswick, good pubs, and scenic walks like Cat Bells. It is considered a great spot for a peaceful retreat.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the fire. However, some discomfort is noted due to issues with the bathroom facilities, affecting the overall comfort score.

Beautiful cottage, stunning views, cosy fire, comfy bed, good location, tranquil. The sun inn do lovely food. Keswick isn't too far away with lots of good pubs and cafes there. Cat bells is a beautiful walk, with stunning views and not too energetic.

The Tottsie is a beautiful cottage. On arrival, the cottage was clean and instructions for arrival and key collection were clear and easy to follow. The views are stunning, so many walks straight from the front door! Comfortable beds and everything that we needed. We’ve had a really lovely stay and will definitely be back! We also highly recommend the Sun Inn - stunning pub!

The cottage is wonderfully old, quirky and cosy and quite well equipped, the views are stunning and we would return. There is however some issues that we feel need addressing to make the stay more comfortable, there is a wonderful large bathroom downstairs with a roll top stand alone bath which I was looking forward to having a nice soak in but the plug doesn’t close, also when trying to shower in there with the shower that’s connected to the taps I was worried about soaking the floor as there is no curtain and while trying to squat down to prevent spraying the room with water I ended up knocking the taps with my elbow which wasn’t great as I got sprayed with very hot water, plus there is no shelf or stand or ledge or anything whatsoever to put shampoos etc on close to the bath and with the style of bathtub being high/deep it’s difficult to reach down onto the floor for them, also the sink in that bathroom has a broken plug which is stuck fast in the hole and the water can’t drain away properly or be closed, there is a small shower room and toilet etc upstairs but the shower isn’t attached to the wall so that is awkward aswell. It’s great that there is a dishwasher and washing machine especially as we were staying for two weeks and had some wet weather so I did do some laundry but without a tumble dryer it seemed almost pointless as there was no way of drying the clothes (there was a very small inadequate clothes airer)and although we didn’t need the storage heaters on I ended up purposely putting them on just to dry the clothes off nearby on the airer in batches and kept rotating them. Also I’m afraid to say that although first impressions the cottage was clean and tidy, it was actually pretty grubby and dusty in many areas and could do with a good big proper clean. I really don’t like to mention all these things or complain but feel it’s only fair and for any chance of improvements being made they have to be addressed. Like I said we absolutely loved the cottage and would love to stay again if these basic easy repairs and maintenance were dealt with.
