In the lawned garden, which has a stream running through it, you can dine alfresco on the patio furniture provided.

You’ll be in a peaceful rural spot 1 mile from the village of Gosforth, which has a shop, a pub and a café. The local area is a true treasure trove for nature lovers, with scenic walking trails at Ponsonby Fell (3.5 miles) and Eskdale (5.5). At Wastwater (4.5 miles), you can go kayaking or paddleboarding on England’s deepest lake or tuck into a picnic on its banks.
