It was extremely peaceful and relaxing if you wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. A great place to explore the north of the Lake District. The owners were very helpful. We would definitely go back again.

Lovely situation on Caldbeck common. If you enjoy seeing farm life, animals and birds all around it’s a great place to be with friendly hosts. Traditional stone house with thick walls, cool in extremely hot weather and likely to be warm in cold weather. Village shop, tearooms and good pub about 5 minute drive away in Caldbeck village. Local walks along the river. Bassenthwaite about 20 minutes away and Keswick town with theatre, good shops and launches on Derwentwater about 30 minutes away.

Lovely cottage to stay in, so many sheep and lambs around and lovely to hear the cows as well. In the middle of nowhere but also close enough to explore places, we went to the beach and round Buttermere and Ennerdale. Also lovely little village at Caldbeck, the Howk (old bobbin mill) definitely worth a visit, although it is a ruin so don't expect too much. Cottage well equipped and beds are comfy. We were only there 4 nights but had a lovely time.
