"This quirky Lakeland terrace cottage, on the edge of Coniston village with wonderful with glimpses of the lake through the trees is a real place to get away from it all. In a clearing in the woods, close to the mill beck with lovely gardens front and rear it’s just a little bit of heaven. You’ll find lots of charm and character with low ceilings, slate floors and the occasional squeaky floorboard! Lovely and cosy with a woodburning stove in the living room and outdoor gardens with a chimenea. Just right for a glass of wine to watch the sunset. Whether you fancy a gentle stroll along the shores of Coniston Water, or up the high Coniston Fells, of Wetherlam, Dow Crag and the bridleway to Coniston Old Man, the busy village of Coniston a short walk away with local shops and traditional pubs serving great local produce. Find out about the heritage here of Donald Campbell, or the magical setting for Swallows and Amazons, and on the water you’ll find the National Trust’s elegant Steam Yacht Gondola, or Coniston Launch to take you on a trip; or hire your own kayak or canoe at the boating centre.
Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing.
