Guests say

Chapel Hill Cottage in Ambleside is praised for its great location, comfort, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to local amenities and walking routes. While some cleanliness issues and maintenance concerns are noted, the cottage is generally well-regarded as a warm and cosy holiday rental, with many guests returning and planning future stays.

Several reviews mention cleanliness issues such as dust, dog hair, and crumbs, indicating room for improvement. However, some guests found the property clean, suggesting inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The cottage's location is highly praised for being close to the heart of Ambleside and convenient for walks and local attractions. The steep hill and parking challenges are noted but do not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback on location.

Guests frequently describe the cottage as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with special mentions of the comfortable beds. Some concerns about heating settings and noise from neighbours are noted but are not prevalent in the feedback.

The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests are generally satisfied with the facilities. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as a faulty microwave, kettle socket, and washer/dryer, which slightly lower the score.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owners or management. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Chapel Hill cottage is perfect for being central to all the shops, pubs and restaurants. There are 2 pubs less than 3 minutes from the cottage The Unicorn which serves food and dogs are very welcome. Then there is The Golden Rule which is also dog friendly. The cottage is on a steep hill ,it does have parking for a small car, having said that there is parking along side the cottage and at the top of the hill there are a few spaces. It’s worth pointing out there are steps down to the cottage. The cottage has very comfortable furniture in the lounge, it is decorated well throughout. The kitchen was well equipped although no wall units for storage. It’s a brilliant base to explore from. If you go to the information office/post office you can purchase a pack of Walks for you to do to get the best look at the area, catering for all abilities and ages. I would highly recommend this property.

Parking tight (we had two cars) but always managed to get a space near to the cottage. Beds are dead comfy and shower(s) good. Kitchen very well equipped ( could have done with more roasting tins but we were there for Xmas so used more than usual…we took throw away tins so all good). Xmas decs were lovely. Took our own dvd player but smart tv was perfect (and good size) for all other watching. Only minor moans…could have done with 2 house keys (1 per couple) and the heating system was very noisy, esp early morning. Loved our Xmas break in the beautiful lakes, even they dull dreary weather didn’t put a downer on our stay.

We did have a nice family holiday. However, couple of things to note. The drive is loose gravel and we sunk into it trying to get off, very nearly stuck so couldn't use for the week we were there. The house as previously reported in other reviews has a damp issue. Paint was peeling off the walls and bedroom wall was streaming with condensation. The property is adjoined to a student accomadation house. Wednesday night the loud music started at 0100 and finally stopped at 0400. I left an item in the kitchen and unfortunately Sykes have been completely useless in helping to recover.
