Crozier Cottage in Cumbria & The Lake District is a well-equipped, comfortable property with stunning views, ideal for relaxing after exploring the area. Guests appreciate its excellent location, cosy atmosphere, and the secure garden for pets. While some guests mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the positive aspects such as the central heating system, well-stocked kitchen, and the property's charm are frequently highlighted.
Cleanliness has received mixed reviews. While some guests found the cottage cleaner and fresher upon arrival, others noted concerns with dog hair, dirty carpets, and a general need for a deeper clean. The cleanliness of the property seems to vary, with some guests taking the initiative to clean upon arrival.
The location of Crozier Cottage is highly praised for its stunning views, proximity to local amenities, and ease of access to walking trails. Guests consistently appreciate the peaceful setting and the convenience of being able to walk into the village and nearby attractions.
Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with a cosy log burner, excellent central heating, and a secure garden for pets. However, some guests mention that the sofas and beds could be more comfortable and that the property can be cold during inclement weather.
Facilities are well-regarded, especially the well-equipped kitchen. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as a non-working tumble dryer and a need for better cleaning tools. Some guests also suggest updating certain amenities and providing more essentials like toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets.
While some guests mention the lack of a Christmas tree and presents, which they expected based on past experiences, there is not enough information to determine if such gestures are a standard practice for this property. Therefore, it cannot be confirmed that gifts are a regular feature of the cottage's offerings.
Resting on the edge of the picturesque village of Grasmere, in the heart of the Lake District, is this delightful home, Crozier Cottage. The property has been lovingly restored to provide quality accommodation for families and friends alike, all whilst retaining the many original features that give the interior a true feel of character. After a long day of hill walking, look forward to unwinding in the sitting room where you can relax on the plush sofa whilst the impressive multi-fuel stove offers a gentle warmth to the room. The galley style fitted kitchen has all the necessary amenities to keep your party well fed but retains the country living charm prevalent throughout the cottage.
There is a small seating area with an overlook to Helm Crag and a great viewing place for red squirrels and birds, along with a dining table where meals can be enjoyed. Heading upstairs, we find three cosy bedrooms furnished in a neutral colour scheme, with a king-size, twin and children’s bunk bedroom. This floor also contains a fully tiled bathroom with bath, walk-in shower, basin and WC. Outside this lovely cottage is a garden patio with furniture, perfect for a refreshing drink or your morning coffee whilst taking in the tranquil surroundings and planning your days ahead. There is no need to use the car on a daily basis with shops, restaurants and bars just along the road in the village centre, plus there are a number of scenic walks and high rambles to be explored from the door.
Brush up on your history with a visit to Dove Cottage, where you can to gain a vivid impression of what day-to-day life would have been like for William Wordsworth and his family, as well as providing the opportunity to soak up the unique and creative atmosphere of the cottage. Unravel the beauty of the area by visiting the stunning Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water, both providing spectacular views with reflections of the hills in the calm waters, as well as the opportunity for boat hire. With easy access to Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere, Croizer Cottage provides a fabulous base for all sorts of countryside escapes.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

The house is lovely and warm and well located for an amble into the village and to local pub. Main dissatisfaction-fedback to Sykes but yet to hear anything in terms of compensation-is the oven doesnât work properly. Opting for self catering means we rely on cooking facilities to work. Two meals were inedible but the pub came up trumps! Minor dissatisfaction is bulb in the bathroom is too dim - easily fixed by new bulb. And windows could do with a good clean - again understandable given the horrid weather weâve been having. Weâd definitely recommend the cottage and hope to return.

It is very comfortable & has all the equipment that you need for a very pleasant holiday. The position on the edge of Grasmere is very handy for local walks & only 5 min. from centre & all the shops/restruants that you could want. There was only one little negative & that is the bathroom lighting needs to be seen to, it is so dim & flickers you are unable to see yourself. We will definitely stay again but in the summer next time so that we can enjoy the lovely garden ( natural sun trap)
