Lingmoor View is a well-received cottage in Cumbria, praised for its stunning views, ideal location for walkers, and comfortable, well-equipped accommodation. Guests have enjoyed the property's cleanliness, the convenience of walks straight from the door, and the well-maintained facilities. While there have been minor issues with maintenance and cleanliness, the overall experience has been positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and well-maintained, contributing to a restful stay. However, a few guests encountered issues with housekeeping, such as dirty utensils and full bins, which slightly impacted the overall cleanliness perception.
The location is highly praised for its fantastic views and proximity to walking paths and local amenities. The steep access drive was a concern for some, but the overall sentiment about the location is overwhelmingly positive.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, warm, and cosy, with comfortable beds and a homely atmosphere. Some guests mentioned issues with heating controls and bed comfort, but these were relatively minor.
The property is well-equipped with cooking utensils and appliances, though some guests had difficulties with the tumble dryer and heating system. The lack of garden furniture for outdoor dining was also noted. Maintenance issues were raised but did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Lingmoor View is a pleasant duplex, two-bedroom holiday home, sitting in an elevated position at the heart of the picturesque village of Chapel Stile and its amenities. The cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy spectacular and idyllic trails from the doorstep and some of the most acclaimed Lakeland mountain walks lie just three miles up the valley. It is an ideal holiday retreat for a family or two couples.
Walk into the porch, store your outdoor gear and step into your bright and spacious open plan sitting room with dining and kitchen areas and enjoy the natural light flooding into this welcoming space. Go through the patio doors to your shared garden area and take in the breath-taking views to the Langdale fells. Find a double bedroom at ground level, with king size bed, TV and en-suite shower room. Climb the stairs to your twin bedroom, TV and lovely views from the Velux windows. You will find your family bathroom on this floor with bath and shower cubicle.
Head out on foot to experience spectacular walking trails or take the bus though the beautiful Langdale Valley to Dungeon Ghyll, to walk some of the most acclaimed trails in the National Park. For a more relaxing day explore the village and its surrounding area, before having breakfast at Bramble’s café and stocking up at the local store. Or, visit the well-loved Wainrights Inn for lunch, a stone’s throw from the village centre, then take the scenic path along the river to the pretty hamlet of Elterwater.
At the end of your day take a drink onto your terrace in the shared garden and gaze at the panoramic views.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
