In the hamlet of Rydal, resting between Ambleside and Grasmere, you will find this characterful holiday home, Strawberry Cottage. A lovely mid-terrace surrounded by the luscious lands of the Lake District National Park, it makes an excellent choice for your family holiday. Step through the porch leading you into the homely living/dining room encompassed by rustic wooden beams bringing a characterful charm to the room alongside the warming multi-fuel stove, with the interior offering a more contemporary style to bring you the very best of both worlds, as well as all of the entertainment of a TV, DVD player, video and CD/radio! Move through into the kitchen to find a wealth of wonderful appliances to assist you on your self-catered stay, with plenty of space for little helpers to get involved in the cooking too for those truly memorable moments with your loved ones. Up on the first floor you can find the two well-presented sleeping spots of both a double and a twin, both home to basins for your convenience, as well as the contemporary-styled family bathroom resting on this floor too where you can indulge in a relaxing soak to end the day. Start your mornings sitting amidst the fresh countryside breeze in the rear enclosed yard, before heading out to explore the local area. The hamlet of Rydal where the property rests was once home to the famed English poet Wordsworth, his nearby home and gardens of the Rydal Mount & Gardens being open for the public to visit, making a lovely day trip, as well as the village hosting the inviting coffee shop The Old School Room where you can indulge in a tasty snack and pick up an unusual souvenir to take back to your loved ones back home, while the Rydal Cave is well-worth exploring if you’re seeking outdoor adventure, with plenty to see and a plethora of picnic spots where you can make the most of your scenic surroundings. Embark on the renowned White Moss walk to explore even more of the area, or venture along the Rydal Water to discover Dove Cottage as well as taking you back to Rydal Mount, the perfect way to discover both of Wordsworth’s homes. Head to the nearby popular village of Grasmere to find a wonderful host of amenities including, shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Faeryland where you can hire a boat and explore the waters from a different view! Venture to Windermere to find a plethora of water sports along Lake Windermere, Brockhole being particularly popular for its varied opportunities, or venture out to the coast of Whitehaven for a traditional day by the coast. No matter how you choose to spend your holiday, Strawberry Cottage is sure to be a delight to you and your loved ones all-year-round.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
