The famous Lake Windermere steamers are in easy reach at Bowness Pier, and all around superb high and low level walks compete for your attention. Ambleside sits to the north in the lea of the central fells, and the Langdale Valleys and a myriad of lakes are all in striking distance. We recommend a day out with Mountain Goat minibus tours to fully appreciate the grandeur of the district. The company are based in Windermere and offer such itineraries as the 'Ten Lakes Spectacular'.

Windermere enjoys a range of excellent bars, cafes and restaurants, none tastier than the Homeground coffee house or Hooked, which is first choice for special seafood. There is so much to do in the village and the surrounding area that you will find each day full of activity when you stay at Lazy Bay.

But despite its central location your holiday cottage benefits from a seclusion that befits its name. Lazy Bay Cottage is a real haven in which to chill and get into that pleasantly slow holiday mode! There is even a 'snug', a second lounge space, on the first-floor, to make sure you have all the comfort you need. Just bring your favourite people and enjoy!

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
