Situated besides the picturesque River Duddon, one of Wordsworth’s favourite places, Whistling Green allows easy access to the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. This comfortable wing of the owner’s traditional Cumbrian farmhouse, set in half an acre of shared grounds has a large beamed living/dining room with rugs on a polished wood floor, is surrounded by open moorland with grazing sheep and wonderful views up the valley. The area offers fell walking, sailing and riding at Coniston, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and an exhilarating drive over Hardknott Pass to visit the Roman Fort and much more. Families will enjoy the sand and shingle beach at Silecroft, 8 miles. Fishing is available within 5 miles. A local pub serving excellent food 3 miles up the valley.

Whistling Green has a spectacular view out of every window. It truly feels like you are alone, just as we like it. The cottage is comfortable and clean, everything we needed was there. Philip is easy to get on with but is not "in your face" and sorts any issues straight away without fuss. Add his dog Monty into the mix and if not for our car breaking down it would have been the perfect holiday. Would book again.

Very comfortable bedrooms and bathroom. Kitchen could do with a big pasta boiling pot and new frypans. Friendly host, and lovely garden space,but be aware there are adjoining doors which transmit sound easily from hosts side of the farmhouse abd visa versa no doubt. Great location for enjoying the Duddon River and local fells.

Beautiful place to stay. Very homely. Great host.Be aware this is an extremely rural area and very stunning and also very peaceful. Perfect for walkers.Highly recommend this property for anyone seeking peace and quiet.Nearest shop is Tesco in Millom which is 9 miles away 20mins on beautiful country lanes.Get provisions before arrival, settle in and relax. We would happily return, we had a wonderful week in this property
