Elm Retreat is set in private woodland on the banks of the river, in the beautiful grounds of Blencowe Hall in Cumbria. The secluded spot is the perfect place for those looking for a peaceful luxurious break.

The picturesque Shepherds Hut has everything you could want or need for a break away from everyday life. Designed with function and comfort in mind, the fold down king-size bed sits above a seating area with oak flooring and cosy cushions. The kitchenette is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils and crockery along with a gas oven, gas hob and fridge – everything you need to rustle up a well-deserved feast after a day discovering the Eden Valley and Lake District. The en-suite is fitted with a shower, wash basin, WC and heated chrome towel rail.

Outside you are lucky enough to have private decking with stunning views onto the river running by. There is a barbecue for alfresco dining in the warmer summer months, and a firepit and an outdoor seating area to snuggle around on chilly evenings. With just the birds and other wildlife for company, this really is a very special find.

The hut is well insulated with Herdwick wool insulation in the walls; the floors and roof structure are heated with LPG. We also provide you with a Welcome Hamper.

Shortly there will be a heated external drying cupboard for wet coats and boots for the hut.

A torch is recommended as the gravel driveway leading to the Shepherds Hut is unlit.
