Cringol Cottage in Ambleside is highly praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the recent refurbishments and the provision of essentials for a pleasant stay. The cottage's proximity to town and walking routes is a highlight, and the private parking is a valued convenience. While minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests planning return visits.
Guests consistently mention the high level of cleanliness throughout the cottage, with only a couple of minor niggles regarding a shower curtain and dish drainer. The property is frequently described as clean and well-maintained.
The location is repeatedly commended for being central, peaceful, and convenient for both the town of Ambleside and local walks. The ability to park the car upon arrival and not use it again until departure is particularly appreciated.
Comfort is a strong point for Cringol Cottage, with guests finding it cosy and welcoming. The recent refurbishments have further enhanced the comfort level, making it a welcome place to stay after long walks.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being well-equipped. However, there are mentions of minor issues such as a faulty toaster and smoke alarm, which slightly impact the score.
The provision of chocolate and the overall attention to detail in the cottage suggest thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every guest, this is a delightful touch but not a consistent offering.

Cruises, boat rides, and watersports on Lake Windermere are just some of the activities available, and the hamlet itself has lots of stores, restaurants, and bars to satisfy any taste. The parkland on the Waterhead lakefront provides stunning vistas of the water and a small beach, while a stroll in the opposite way along Stock Ghyll through the woods leads to the hypnotic Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. Ambleside is known for more than just the lake and the excellent hiking it provides; the town is also renowned for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the quaint "Bridge House," a 17th-century structure that has become one of the most photographed structures in the Lake District and is now the home of the National Trust's information centre.
