Daffodils is an inviting holiday cottage resting in the village of Rydal, Cumbria, offering an appealing base for couples or small families looking to explore the heart of the Lake District National Park. Well arranged and full of character, the cottage blends sociable living spaces with a practical layout suited to relaxed stays. On entering the property, the living/dining room provides a welcoming place to spend time together, centred around a woodburning stove that adds warmth after days spent out walking, with space to sit down for meals. The adjoining kitchen is neatly arranged for everyday self‑catering, making it easy to prepare breakfast before heading out or supper on your return.
The accommodation includes two bedrooms, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. There is a double bedroom with an en‑suite walk‑in shower, basin and WC, alongside a twin bedroom, both providing restful places to settle at the end of the day. These are served by a family bathroom fitted with a bath, shower over, basin and WC, giving guests a choice between a refreshing shower or a longer soak. Outside, Daffodils benefits from a private front lawn and an enclosed rear patio with furniture, offering pleasant spaces to enjoy fresh air throughout the day. A pub is just a short walk away, while shops are reached by car.
From here, explore nearby Grasmere for village charm and lakeside walks, visit Windermere for boat trips and attractions, or head to Keswick for market‑town amenities and access to northern fells. With its Lakeland setting and welcoming layout, Daffodils offers a dependable base for discovering Cumbria.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
