The cottage is quintessentially a lakes cottage. We did find however, having stayed in a lot of cottages over the years in the lakes, that this was expensive for what it was. It’s looking a bit tired and the bathroom really needs a refresh in certain areas. It smelt quite ‘doggy’ downstairs with a febreze freshener plugged in all the time. The garden is also NOT enclosed and is open to the main road. We had to keep our dogs on leads. Whilst it doesn’t state an enclosed garden, neither does it state that the garden is on the driveway which is open to the road. We’ve stayed in really top quality places in other equally popular places for around £200-£300 less. We will stay in grasmere again - but probably not here.

I stayed here for 3 nights for my sisters wedding. I brought along my dog as it’s a dog friendly cottage. On arrival the smell of wet dog hit me first and the thick white dog hair that was everywhere, including all over the oven and some work surfaces . I totally understand it’s dog friendly and have always stayed in dog friendly places and know that it’s expected to find dog hairs but this cottage had not been cleaned properly, the crockery was dirty also. The cottage needs some TLC , I would describe it as gruby
