Feel the warmth from the underfloor heating beneath the original slate kitchen floor as you rustle up a tasty dinner using the electric oven with built-in microwave function, along with a range of nifty appliances. Gather at the dining table, which dwells at the centre of the room, for a home-cooked evening meal before you whip out board game brought from home. When sleep finally calls, retire to the beautiful king-size bedroom on the first floor, with its own en-suite bathroom featuring mood lighting and a mirror with Bluetooth connection so you can listen to some soothing songs while you take a relaxing soak in the tub before catching a well-earned rest.

With Smart TVs present in both bedrooms, you can enjoy slow, peaceful mornings tucked beneath the covers whilst you watch your favourite shows as you sip a nice cup of tea or coffee. Up on the second floor, the super-king-size bedroom has the benefit of three Velux windows, which invite natural light and allow you to enjoy stunning views of the picturesque village of Hawkshead. For some fresh air, head out onto the rear patio with seating that functions as a great place for evening drinks or alfresco dining, or if you fancy exploring the local area, head to one of the four village pubs, with The Red Lion Inn being just a stone's throw away, to delight in a local ale and some delicious pub grub.

If you’re feeling active, set off on a scenic walk starting from your doorstep up towards Tarn Hows, regarded as one of the best views in the Lake District due to its woodland setting and views of the serene, open countryside. Visit Go Ape at Grizedale Forest for a day of thrills and adventure, with a treetop rope course and zip wires suspended forty feet in the air! For a more relaxed activity, simply embark on a walk along one of the gorgeous woodland trails where you can try to spot all fifty sculptures that are dotted throughout the forest! Heading just outside of Ambleside, you will find Brockhole Visitors Centre, where you can enjoy several activities, including treetop trekking, mini golf, archery, laser clay shooting, boat hire or simply unwind and sample Cumbrian cooking at its best in the café, which offers table service and spectacular views overlooking Lake Windermere from its terrace.

Beatrix Potter's former home, the National Trust's Hill Top, rests close by, a quaint farmhouse still filled with the writer's original furnishings and favourite possessions, thoughtfully-preserved to appear as though she has just stepped out for a momentary walk; it's a great place to visit for any fans of her fantastic children's books. Visit all the hot spots of the Lake District by travelling along England's largest lake, Windermere, with boat ferries that bring you to the various waterside towns and villages that sit on the lake’s edge; explore Ambleside, bursting with heritage and home to historical landmarks such as the Ambleside Roman Fort; in Bowness-on-Windermere, pay a visit to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction before marvelling at the amazing, aquatic creatures in the Lakes Aquarium in Lakeside.

If you want to make a day of it, the market town of Keswick is accessible by car, and overlooked by the Skiddaw Mountain range with the beautiful Derwent Water also running close to the town centre. With its grey limestone buildings earning it the nickname ‘Auld Grey Town’, Kendal is also worth a car trip if you’re willing, being most famous for its eponymous mint cake, whilst offering daily indoor and weekly outdoor markets where many local delights can be sampled and purchased. Enjoy all of this and so much more when you book a stay at Jessamine Cottage.

Lying near to Esthwaite Water and west of Windermere is the village of Hawkshead, a charming location in the heart of the lakes. Hawkshead itself has a variety of excellent pubs and restaurants, as well as good walking and cycling from the village. Jessamine cottage makes an excellent base to enjoy all of these features. Would recommend.

however we couldn't get the extractor hood above hob to work and this resulted in all 3 smoke detectors going off at same time, the shrill was piercing and not a very nice experience. on a positive note the car park permit was a bonus as parking was restricted outside the cottage and no where to turn around!!
