Guests say

Kilnshaw Cottage in Ambleside offers a peaceful location with stunning views and a lovely garden, ideal for walking and family reunions. While the interior is basic and could benefit from updates, the property's cleanliness and proximity to the town centre are appreciated. Guests enjoyed the outdoor terrace and the potential for indoor activities like table tennis.

The property is generally clean, with the inside well-maintained and utensils in order. However, there were isolated incidents of dust and a broken glass found, which slightly affected the score.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and proximity to Ambleside. The steep hill may be challenging for some, but it provides a great base for walks and access to local amenities.

The comfort of the property is adequate, with lovely beds mentioned, but there are comments about dated furniture, squeaky beds, and low ceilings affecting taller guests, indicating room for improvement.

Facilities are basic with some maintenance issues noted, such as a broken window and limited hot water supply. The potential for activities like table tennis is a plus, but the lack of mirrors and modern kitchen equipment are drawbacks.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Lovely accomodation, very roomy and great for Ambleside. Parking was a bit difficult and I should imagine if there was a few cars it would be difficult. We did have problems with the hot water and it seemed once the tank of water has been used you have to wait a while for it to re heat. Also the heating was off a few mornings. You also need to take everything with you such as oil, herbs and bin liners so I'm glad I did, as if you don't want to move the car each time and its a steep hill to get back up from the shops! We all did have a lovely time, thankyou

Great location and stunning view with great ability to have meals outside on terrace. We were a bit disappointed on stocking up, no rinse aid or salt for dishwasher which is hard to buy locally. Three washing machine cubes only, the garage was dusty and cramped with things making table tennis difficult in practice but this could have been a great asset on a rainy day. A lack of mirrors was surprising. The inside of the house was clean and utensils all in order. We discovered a broken glass at the back of the cupboard on arrival and the foxes had strewn all the rubbish all over the driveway.
