Redwood is a modern detached property occupying a slightly elevated spot on the lower slopes of Wansfell. The location commands fine views towards Loughrigg Fell and The Fairfield Horseshoe and it is just a half mile walk, downhill, to the centre of vibrant Ambleside. Offering the very best of both worlds this contemporary cottage sits in a peaceful position yet is still close enough to the village for convenience and access to its amenities.
Beautifully presented and well appointed the open plan living space on the ground level is fabulous and has patio doors leading to a furnished decked area where you can sip a cup of tea or even a glass or two! The conservatory offers a place to escape to and relax, while upstairs you’ll benefit from superb views from the three bedrooms and the large, luxurious bathroom.
There’s private parking at the front of the property, along with a front garden with seating. Enter the house via the porch, perfect for walking clobber, then into the open plan living space, a bright and airy lounge with leather sofas and plenty of space that runs through to the dining area with patio doors looking up onto Wansfell. To the rear, there's a back garden and decked patio complete with furniture, ideal for al-fresco living.
The kitchen is well equipped and you can relax in the conservatory. There is also an additional shower room with WC off this room. On the first floor, the three bedrooms, two double and one single are beautifully presented offer far reaching views and the large and luxurious bathroom has a double ended bath and separate power shower cubicle.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

House was well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable winter break. The location was fantastic and we look forward to staying again.

We have enjoyed watching the many, many birds which visit the feeders (which we kept topped up!) and also had regular visits from the badger and the pheasants. There are lots walks to begin from the door whether short wanders or long mountain rounds. The bus services are also very good from Ambleside with links to all the surrounding main areas if you want to go further afield. If you do the walk round to Troutbeck we can highly recommend the Old Post Office Tearoom (open Thurs to Monday). Excellent cakes, tea in proper cups and a very nice atmosphere. Thank you Peter and Avril for the lovely welcome pack gifts and the little extras which made it a perfect stay, it's without doubt the best property we have stayed in.

Warm, comfortable and private, and with all the easy access to Ambleside and Lakeland areas, both stunning and beautiful. It was very calm weather for most of the week, most welcome. Redwood is our recommendation, nothing negative at all. With thanks.
