The Bay Cottage in Ambleside is highly praised for its superb location, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-appointed kitchen, en-suite rooms, and thoughtful touches like welcome packs. While parking is limited and some noise issues are mentioned, the overall sentiment is positive with many guests planning to return.
Most reviews highlight the property's cleanliness, with terms like 'super clean' and 'immaculately clean' used. However, one negative review citing cleanliness issues lowers the score slightly.
The location is consistently praised for being close to the lake and Ambleside town centre, with easy access to walks and local amenities. The proximity to attractions makes it an ideal base for exploring.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces well-furnished. Some concerns about road noise and the need for fans during warmer weather slightly affect the comfort score.
The property is well-equipped with en-suite rooms and a kitchen that guests love. Maintenance issues like ants and loose fixtures are noted, indicating room for improvement in this area.
While guests mention welcome packs and the addition of fans, there are not enough references to specific thoughtful gestures or gifts to accurately score this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

On Waterhead's lakeshore, the parkland provides beautiful views along the lake and a small beach, while a stroll in the opposite direction, along Stock Ghyll through the woods, leads to the hypnotic Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. The house is just a two minute walk from the gorgeous lake too and only a fifteen minute walk into Ambleside town. We had an issue on the first night of a missing cot, both Sykes and the owner were amazing, both responding so quickly to our messages and a cot was delivered that evening- we were very impressed. I cannot recommend this property highly enough, thank you so much to the owner, youâve put so much thought and care into the house, we loved it.

Itâs well equipped with mugs, plates, cutlery etc. It was clean, warm and accommodated 6 adults and 2 dogs really well. The position is lovely with a small walk to pubs, cafes and Windermere Lake which the dogs loved. The Christmas decorations were a nice touch.
Karen
We never even sat in lounge the kitchen was perfect to cook and gab. House is high end quality and spotlessly clean. It was a Lovely time spent with our friends .
