The Coach House is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in a superb location, ideal for exploring the Lake District with walks from the doorstep and abundant wildlife in its beautiful private grounds. Guests consistently praise its peaceful setting, family-friendly features, and excellent access to local attractions. While some mention areas needing refurbishment and occasional maintenance issues, the overall experience is very positive, with many guests eager to return.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, though a few noted areas needing a deeper clean, such as skirting boards and external paintwork. Some isolated issues with stained bedding and outdoor upkeep were mentioned, but these did not detract significantly from the overall impression.
The location is highly praised for its central position in the Lake District, proximity to Ambleside and Grasmere, and immediate access to scenic walks. Some guests noted road noise in the garden, but this was rarely an issue indoors and did not overshadow the excellent setting.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, cosy, and spacious, with warm heating and good beds. A few mentioned dated or uncomfortable sofas and small beds, but most reviews highlight a restful and enjoyable stay.
The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen appliances, utensils, and modern amenities. Some minor maintenance issues were reported, such as a broken toaster section, chipped crockery, and occasional WiFi problems. Overall, facilities met or exceeded expectations for most guests.
Some guests appreciated small touches like complimentary milk (though not always in date) and the provision of essentials. However, communication with the host was occasionally lacking, and gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

Grasmere also offers a selection of bars and restaurants, tea rooms and independent shops, where you can try some of the world famous Grasmere gingerbread.
