Le Chalet is an exceptional, 5-star property in a fabulous location. Beautifully appointed throughout, this luxurious home has the ‘wow factor’ in spades. Located in the pretty village of Elterwater, guests have the best of the Lakes on their doorstep. Fine dining, pubs, walks, breath-taking scenery and the award-winning spa and leisure facilities of the Langdale Estate.
This environmentally friendly property with its timber frame, blends beautifully with the magnificent scenery. Slate steps lead up to the entrance hall and the majestic open sitting room. Spectacular views and fabulous furnishings make this a room you’ll never wish to leave. The impressive space flows through to a superb dining area and kitchen. The downstairs Media Room is state of the art and perfect for sharing a film night with friends.
With 5 magnificent suites and double room with bathroom, guests will be living a life of luxury. Designer baths and power showers add to the sense of decadence and the beds are sublime.
On the top floor the Loughrigg Suite features yet another entertaining space with living room - dining area, handmade log burner and, of course, those views.
Outside there is ample parking, the Britannia pub close by, as well as everything needed for a sociable barbeque or morning coffee while planning the day ahead. Elterwater is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A tranquil hamlet with its tiny ‘swan lake’, Elter Water, sitting at the gateway of the striking Langdale valley. The soft valley landscape is in sharp contrast to the steep jagged Langdale Pikes. Elterwater sits between Ambleside and Great Landgale, where at the top of the valley the infamous Wrynose Path is the only way out of the u-shaped valley, giving it a superb sense of seclusion. The larger towns of Grasmere and Ambleside are both less than 4 miles away providing a host of options for shopping and eating out.

The property itself was of outstanding quality, and was tastefully decorated for Christmas. The bedrooms were clean, well presented and luxurious with en-suites. Apart from one bedroom that had a bathroom next to it. There were 8 people staying at the property and we found that there was plenty of fridge/freezer space with the American style fridge freezer located just outside the kitchen as well as a single fridge downstairs near the TV room. We even cooked a roast turkey dinner on Christmas Day. The kitchen had a normal sized oven as well as a second smaller oven with a microwave. The location of the property is fantastic, with many beautiful places to visit just a short car ride away as well as scenic walks a 5 minute walk away from Le Chalet. The only constructive feedback that I would give is that the property has no french press or Tassimo coffee machine, this can be a must for some. The cinema was enjoyed by us all. The house has been designed to cater for larger parties with no shortage of anything from crockery tcutalrey glasses it has everything on hand to enjoy the delights of the Lake District. We enjoyed the little cafe/restaurant and the village pub and the walks along the river. A big thank-you to the owners for sharing this lovely home they obviously have a flair and a great business for internal decor and furnishing's. In this world not everything is perfect, the cleaning was not up to standard to match the house on arrival and also we had a problem with no hot water, we rang Sykes Cottages and the phones during the day were out of order saying ring back later which we did and still no answer. We sent a email to ask for assistance and still no reply. We solved the issue ourselves by seeking advise from google and resetting the system no further problems . Looking forward to visiting again, if the cinema room was renamed the âBrian Clough Suiteâ
