While many guests found the cottage to be comfortable and well-equipped, there were several mentions of cleanliness issues such as dust, dog hair, and cobwebs. Some noted a decline in cleanliness compared to previous stays, affecting the score.
The location is highly praised for its beautiful surroundings, tranquillity, and proximity to local pubs and walks. The stunning views and easy access to Lake District attractions contribute to a high score.
Guests frequently mention the comfort of the beds and the cosy feel of the cottage. However, some concerns about dampness in the downstairs bedroom and the size of the property for larger groups slightly lower the score.
The cottage is well-equipped with a woodburner, Nespresso machine, and utility area. However, some guests reported issues with appliances and a lack of emergency amenities during power outages, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.
Many guests felt the cottage offered thoughtful touches, including welcome gifts and attention to detail that enhanced their stay. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, this is reflected in the score.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park.
