Riverside is a wonderful property for a large family group or friends getting together for a magical holiday in the Lake District. Its riverside setting is very special, especially as it comes with fishing rights, and with 12 acres of grounds to explore guests may struggle to tear themselves away from this idyllic spot.
The drive to Riverside has electric gates to add to the sense of total seclusion and leads to the house where there is parking for 4 cars. The sitting room is filled with lovely places to sit and relax, the stunning open fire adding to the sense of grandeur and enormous arched patio doors and windows look out to the surrounding countryside. The well-equipped kitchen leads off this central living space, and in turn has stable doors opening on to yet another sunny terrace. Down to the lower ground floor with a utility room and fabulous king size room with amazing views and separate shower room. The utility room doubles as a second kitchen.
A second king size room can be found on the second floor, along with the house bathroom and double room with en-suite wc. Hidden on the top floor is the final bedroom with three single beds and separate wc. This room proves extremely popular with groups of children and younger teenagers.
Only a few miles down the road are the villages of Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside. Whether shopping for groceries, looking for a lively spot for lunch, to catch a film or explore Lake Windermere with its cruises and boats for hire, Riverside’s location takes some beating.
The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
