Hilltop is a well-received cottage in a stunning, peaceful location with scenic walks and a view of Windermere. Guests appreciate its cleanliness, comfort, and the welcoming atmosphere. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but the responsive staff and the cottage's charm outweigh these. The property's seclusion and amenities like an open fire and hot tub contribute to a relaxing stay.
Most guests found the cottage to be spotless and well-maintained, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. However, a few guests mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as behind the sink and on the carpets.
The location is highly praised for its quietness, seclusion, and proximity to scenic walks and views, particularly of Windermere. It's described as idyllic and perfect for a peaceful retreat.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with spacious rooms and cosy features like an open fire. Some guests suggested improvements to the beds and heating control for enhanced comfort.
The facilities are appreciated, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and a hot tub. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as door locks, scratched pans, and a need for more kitchenware. The responsiveness of the staff to requests is a positive aspect.
While guests have mentioned the provision of a hamper and firewood, there are not enough reviews discussing thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches to accurately score this category. It should be noted that while such gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

It is perfect in size and had everything we needed. We didn't have any issues from when we arrived to when we left, highly recommend it. We didn't realise quite how remote it is so if you are looking for pubs/shops within walking distance you will have to be prepared to go a little further. I would definitely return

The location was perfect for us: secluded and peaceful, yet only a short drive from local amenities. There are plenty of scenic walks right on your doorstep, which we really enjoyed. Iâd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. One thing to note is the hot tub. It was our first time using a wood-fired hot tub, and itâs worth knowing that it can take up to four hours to heat. Youâll need to stay nearby to keep the fire going, which can make you feel a bit tied to the house. That said, the hot tub wasnât essential for our stay, so it wasnât a big issue for us. But if a hot tub is a must-have for you, this might not be the most convenient option.

Comfortable, clean and convenient. It was a pleasure to get away to such a quiet location with an opportunity to explore the wonderful lakes.
