The Old Chapel is a stunning property with spacious, well-furnished rooms and ensuites, offering a cosy and comfortable stay. The open plan lounge and kitchen are ideal for family gatherings. Guests enjoyed the local scenery, including Highland cows, and found the location convenient for walking and visiting nearby Ulverston. Some concerns were raised about road safety when exiting the property and mixed messages regarding waste disposal.
Guests generally found The Old Chapel to be a pleasant stay, though some noted areas where cleaning could be more thorough, such as cobwebs, dust, and marks in the bathrooms. These issues seem to be minor and not widespread.
The location is very good, with proximity to Coniston and Ulverston, and walking distance to local pubs. However, concerns about the dangerous road junction slightly affected the score.
The property is praised for its comfort, with high-quality furnishings, ample space, and a warm atmosphere. The presence of a ground floor toilet and a quiet study space added to the comfort level.
The Old Chapel is well-equipped with a fully kitted kitchen, smart TV, and WiFi. Some minor criticisms include a slow-draining shower and a request for an additional oven shelf. The waste disposal confusion has also impacted this score.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owners. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at the Old Chapel with our family. We were 5 adults and 2 dogs and the chapel was a great size and had the amenities we required. Despite the cold weather it was warm and cozy. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms very good. The kitchen space was excellent for cooking Xmas dinner and there was plenty of storage and fridge space. Would definitely recommend.

The Old Chapel is an absolutely stunning property with plenty of room for a family gathering. Every bedroom has an ensuite with high quality finishes. The open plan lounge, kitchen diner is perfect for the family to gather and play games/ eat/ chat. There is ample parking and a lovely enclosed garden/patio area. The views from all around the property are amazing and there are even Highland cows in the field next door. There are walking paths directly from the property and a pub across the road. Ulverston, pubs, shops and restaurants are all a short drive away. We didn't want to leave!

We stayed in August, the location is very good, just South of Coniston.Enough on-site parking for 3 cars comfortably, but getting out onto the road from the small lane the Chapel is on is in my view very dangerous, there’s a 40 MPH speed limit on the main road where you have to pull out but people fly past a lot faster than that. There’s a small mirror on the other side of the road but it is next to useless as it’s very hard to see traffic and it is not aligned with the road correctly. The accommodation is lovely, everything you need is supplied. At the end of the stay we put the bins out as requested, nice and early (the day before collection) and in the correct spot, but nobody came to collect the bins the next day!Read previous reviews where owner was blaming people for not putting bins out correctly but it’s not the guests fault as we found out ourselves. Other than that I would recommend staying here, it’s perfect.
