Guests say

The Old Chapel is a spacious and beautifully converted property, ideal for family gatherings and groups, with high-quality furnishings, ensuite bedrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. Guests praise its peaceful rural setting, proximity to local pubs, and scenic views, including Highland cattle nearby. While most found the property comfortable and well-appointed, some noted minor cleaning issues, confusing bin instructions, and a tricky exit onto the main road. Overall, guests enjoyed their stays and would recommend the property for its charm, comfort, and excellent location.

Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, but several mentioned areas needing improvement, such as cobwebs, dust, stained bedding, and some grubby kitchen equipment. These issues were generally minor and did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

The location is highly praised for its scenic views, proximity to walking paths, and easy access to local pubs and Ulverston. The only recurring concern is the challenging and potentially dangerous exit onto the main road from the property’s lane.

Guests consistently highlight the spaciousness, comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms, and warm, cosy atmosphere. The property is well-suited for large groups and families, with only minor comments about privacy in the mezzanine bedroom and occasional draughts.

The property offers excellent facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen, extra fridge, drying room, and ample parking. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as a slow-draining shower, a missing oven shelf, and a broken stool, but these did not significantly impact their stay.

While guests appreciated the overall amenities, several mentioned the absence of a welcome pack or basic provisions like milk, which are sometimes provided at other properties. It should be noted that gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed at this property.

Absolutely beautiful building - it makes such an incredible first impression. We all absolutely loved it and found it to be the most luxurious cottage we have ever stayed in. The little touches really made all the difference - blankets by the fireplace, BBQ equipment, fully stocked coffee machine, games and books to use...we felt instantly at home and wish we could have stayed longer. By the end of our first night, we were already talking about when we could come back! The only negative was the end of the road where you pull out to join the main road. It's not easy to see if anything is coming and if people come over the hill at speed it can take you by surprise. We had a very near miss that left us a bit shaken. But aside from that, the location was ideal for visiting Coniston and Windermere and we loved coming back home at the end of a busy day exploring. It was a wonderful stay!

Chapel beautiful furniture a bit dirty looking but acceptable downside access to outside with pets through a bedroom door but not really adequate land to property for pets unless like mine tiny Yorkshire terrier. Bins and refuge a nightmare as go out on a Thursday night and we stayed Friday till Monday so had to drive to a recycle centre as booths store as stated no longer have one and there was already rubbish in bins when we arrived. No local shop for little things like bread and milk so again a drive away. Probably would book again for the size and now being aware of how the set up works.
