Guests say

Oak Cottage in Bowness-On-Windermere is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its convenient location, cosy atmosphere, and comfortable furnishings. The property is noted for its cleanliness, proximity to local amenities, and the comfort of the beds. While some minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvements are mentioned, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage to be very clean and well-maintained, though there were a few instances where cleanliness did not meet expectations, such as a laundry basket with dirty towels and a toilet that needed additional cleaning upon arrival.

The location is highly praised for being central and within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the lake, making it an ideal base for exploring Bowness-On-Windermere and the surrounding Lake District.

Guests consistently mention the comfort of the beds and the cosy feel of the cottage. However, some noted that the lounge seating was limited for four adults and suggested that additional fans or ventilation could improve comfort during warmer periods.

The cottage is well-equipped with modern bathrooms and a spacious kitchen. Some guests pointed out minor maintenance issues such as window operation and outdoor furniture needing attention, but overall the facilities were appreciated.

While some guests were delighted with welcome packages and extra provisions, others noted the absence of such gifts during their stay. As these are not consistently mentioned or guaranteed, it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness.

It was very comfortable, especially the s/k bed. Large kitchen. Two large bedrooms one with en-suite. The only down side for us was the small settee in the lounge. Fortunately there were only two of us staying, not sure how four adults would have managed, and the steps at the front into the property which were very slippery. We will definitely stay again.

The kitchen was very spacious with everything we needed. Large and modern main bathroom. Bedrooms had large beds which were comfortable. Our request of the beds being apart was not met .The smaller bathroom was dark and the fan did not work great causing this bathroom to become damp. The windows were impossible to open to let fresh air in.The lounge was small and not suitable for a family of 4 .The steps are steep at the front of the house but you can see this from the photo. They were very slippy too, as it was winter. The back door however, is perfect to use and accessibility on to the street. The house is in a perfect location and a short stroll into Bowness. I wouldn't book this house as I feel this property needs modernising and the outside area needs a good clean. For similar pricing there are other properties in the same area which offer more of a luxury stay.

It would have been nice to have a starter pack or just a few logs for the fire, the log burner was a massive part of our choice when booking!
