22 Thirlmere in Windermere offers a well-equipped lodge with comfortable furnishings, including a hot tub and a location ideal for exploring the Lake District. While some guests reported cleanliness issues, the property's amenities and the responsive owners contribute to a generally positive experience.
Several guests reported cleanliness issues, including dust, cobwebs, and pet hair, which detracted from their experience. However, some found the lodge clean, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The lodge's location is highly praised for its proximity to Windermere and Ambleside, offering easy access to the lake and local attractions, making it an excellent base for exploring the Lake District.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the living space spacious and cosy. Some minor discomforts were noted, such as the size of the main bedroom bed and the condition of the hot tub.
The lodge is well-equipped with a kitchen suitable for self-catering and TVs in every room. The hot tub is a highlight, despite some maintenance issues. Wi-Fi connectivity is a concern, with reports of weak and unreliable signal.
While some guests appreciated the mid-stay offer for fresh linen and towels, there were no consistent mentions of welcome gifts or additional thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

Beds were uncomfortable. Cleaners were still there when we arrived at 4pm (check in time) we didnât get in until 4.45 so had to wait outside. Lodge smelled nice and clean but close up it was obviously rushed as under radiators, under sinks etc were dirty. They left the hoover full. There arenât many lights on the site at night so youâll need a torch there are tvâs in all bedrooms and living room but they seem old. Hot tub is a great addition but thereâs no privacy screen around it. There is WiFi on site but itâs not great. Didnât affect us but it might bother others.

The tv is absolutely tiny in the living room and main bedroom and it is not a smart tv either. The WiFi is terrible and kept cutting out. The main bedroom bed is a small double and the mattress was comfortable but the pillows were not. The Hoover is not great and is also quite big and hard to move around and doesnât really pick much up, could do with updating. The location itself was great right near Windermere and just a short walk down to the lakeside. The hot tub was lovely and it has nice big enclosed decking around the lodge. Overall had a nice break here and would come back but would try to find maybe a more up to date lodge. For £600 + for 5 nights Iâd expect a little more for my money from the lodge.
