Guests say

Melody in Windermere offers a prime location with comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the proximity to local amenities and the stunning views. While the property is generally clean, some areas require attention and maintenance. The absence of Wi-Fi and dated appliances were noted, but the overall experience remains positive, with guests willing to return.

The property is mostly clean, particularly the essentials like bed linen, towels, and surfaces. However, some guests noted stained carpets and dust on glasses, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its convenience, being centrally situated above a shopping centre, close to eateries, and a short walk from the lake, making it an excellent base for exploring the Lake District.

The beds are described as comfortable, with varying firmness to suit different preferences. Some guests mentioned road noise and light penetration through curtains, which could affect comfort for light sleepers.

Facilities are functional but dated, with a need for maintenance on items like doors and kitchenware. The lack of Wi-Fi and a small kitchen bin were drawbacks, but the kitchen is otherwise well-equipped.

There is no mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Would have been useful to have some more instructions. E.g. how to work the TV, hot water, etc. Plus maybe some local information, places to eat etc

Booked for four nights in July. The location is EXCELLENT - the accommodation is a first-floor flat above the Quarry Rigg Shopping Centre. Simply step outside and you're on one of the main shopping/eatery roads in Bowness - and just a few minutes walk from the lake. There's a good variety of cafes, restaurants, and bars - and, for us, a highlight was the King of Siam Thai restaurant across the street. Bowness itself is a great base from which to see the rest of the Lake District.I hadn't realised - but the pictures shown are very helpful! The exterior picture showing the shopping centre shows where the entrance is located - in the corner, to the left of Choccobar. The picture showing the road to the rear of the property (looking down towards the lake) is really the view from the living room window. The main bedroom overlooks Lake Road. Being a busy road - you can hear people and cars passing by late into the evening. The flat is otherwise quiet, and the road noise is nothing a pair of earplugs won't fix if that type of thing bothers you.In terms of cleanliness - the things that really matter (like bed linen, towels, surfaces, and furnishings) were clean! No problems there. Other reviews have noted some staining to the carpet in the hallway - that was there when we visited, and might give an unfair first-impression as you enter. There is also evidence of a previous condensation-related mould issue to the ceiling of the bathroom - almost certainly caused by previous guests not adequately ventilating the room during their stay. However, the issue was not severe - and the owners do appear to have taken steps to try and resolve the problem.Fittings and furnishings are a little dated in places - but perfectly functional/comfortable. The kitchen has basic saucepans/frying pans/baking trays etc, and a selection of utensils (though does lack tongs). There is a 'boost' button in the kitchen for the hot water. There was no wi-fi available during our stay - though there is an EE hotspot with good signal strength in the flat which can be connected to for a fee.The two double beds are quite different. The one in the bigger of the two bedrooms is medium soft - and the one in the smaller room firmer (you will notice the resistance if you sit on it quickly). However - they were comfortable for all guests. We found the instructions sent to us via email re:recycling/waste a little confusing as it suggested the refuse point was "behind the shops". In reality - there is a door for the bin store at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the flat. The code for the padlock is provided with the instructions. The kitchen bin is quite small - so you can expect to fill it several times over if you stay for a few nights. We repurposed a couple of carrier bags we had with us for bin bags.Overall - we really enjoyed our stay here, and would absolutely book again in future.
