The property itself is perfectly placed in Bowness on Windermere, with an abundance of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants all within walking distance, as well as many of the lakes’ finest attractions. Take a cruise on Lake Windermere to Ambleside or across to Lakeside to enjoy a day at The Aquarium or hop on the steam train to Haverthwaite. Alternatively, try your hand at sailing and hire your boat for a few hours. Paddle boarding is also a popular activity on the lake, so if you have one, then it’s certainly worth bringing it along.
Bowness-on-Windermere is also home to Beatrix Potter World and the wonderful Art Deco Royalty Cinema. If you’re feeling energetic, so many walks can be found nearby including ’Orrest Head’ in Windermere, a relatively short walk offering spectacular views over Lake Windermere. Some of the Lake District’s fantastic fells are a mere short drive away, as well as the small ’Alpine’ village of Grasmere, where William Wordsworth is laid to rest at St. Oswald’s Church, and if you’re a fan of Gingerbread, a visit to Grasmere Gingerbread shop is a must!

Although the accommodation was very clean and near to the local shops/restaurants, the lane leading up to it was very narrow and uneven. I have some mobility issues and using my mobility scooter outside the apartment was uncomfortable.We had difficulty using the TV, as we had to log into some of the terrestrial channels. The washing machine/drier took about 5 hours to complete its cycle, and we had difficulty opening its door. We had to google it, as there were no instructions!!Overall I would recommend it, as a more able bodied person wouldn’t have some of the problems I encountered. The holiday was still enjoyable.
