The property itself is perfectly placed in Bowness on Windermere, with an abundance of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants all within walking distance, as well as many of the lakes’ finest attractions. Take a cruise on Lake Windermere to Ambleside or across to Lakeside to enjoy a day at The Aquarium or hop on the steam train to Haverthwaite. Alternatively, try your hand at sailing and hire your own boat for a few hours. Paddle boarding is also a popular activity on the lake, so if you have one, then it’s certainly worth bringing it along.
Bowness-on-Windermere is also home to Beatrix Potter World and the wonderful Art Deco Royalty Cinema. If you’re feeling energetic, so many walks can be found nearby including ’Orrest Head’ in Windermere, a relatively short walk offering spectacular views over Lake Windermere. Some of the Lake District’s fantastic fells are a mere short drive away, as well as the small ’Alpine’ like village of Grasmere, where William Wordsworth is laid to rest at St. Oswald’s Church, and if you’re a fan of Gingerbread, a visit to Grasmere Gingerbread shop is a must!

We stayed at this property for 5 nights as a family of four. The location is excellent, just a 5 minute walk to Bowness-on-Windermere and around 15 minutes to Windermere. The cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped. The pool table was a big hit and the TV options were excellent.Unfortunately, our stay was seriously let down by the condition of the beds. The mattress in the main bedroom was worn, sagged significantly and sank in the middle, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. It wasn't a matter of personal preference, even our children couldn't sleep on it comfortably. The bunk bed mattresses were also of a poor standard, so all four of us ended up sharing the bed in the second bedroom.The en-suite bathroom to the main bedroom also had a constant unpleasant smell throughout our stay.We reported the mattress issue to Cottages.com as soon as possible and followed up several times. Despite this, the issue was dismissed as a matter of personal preference, and no effective action was taken to resolve it during our stay. Based on this experience, I would think carefully before booking through Cottages.com again.It's a real shame because the property has a lot of potential, but until these issues are addressed and customer service improves, I wouldn't return and unfortunately can't recommend it.

Received a noise complaint despite barely being in the property and not being late to the bed. The owner living in the flat below the property is peculiar - odd to be spied upon during your holiday is off putting. The fact we received a noise complaint suggests the owner has an incredibly low tolerance for noise.

Lovely property, very well equipped and immaculately presented. Great location, minutes walk into Bowness and on street parking wasn’t a problem (we had two cars). The pool table was a hit and enjoyed sitting on the decking. Would highly recommend.
