This wonderful, link-attached cottage was originally a stable block for a gentleman's residence, in a pleasant residential cul-de-sac on the fringes of Bowness-on-Windermere. Presented to a good standard throughout, the cottage offers a comfortable ground floor sitting room with a dining space and a cosy woodburning stove, plus lovely double doors leading to a pleasant courtyard to the front of the property. There is also a well-equipped, modern kitchen, two ground floor bedrooms, one of which is a king-size double and one with the flexible zip/link option of being a king-size double or a twin, plus a good-size family bathroom. A further king-size bedroom with a modern en-suite shower room, fitted wardrobes and a vanity area is located on the first floor.
The well-established, elevated garden enjoys pretty views and the well-furnished decking is a lovely place to sit and enjoy an early morning drink. Bowness is a short walk away and offers a wide selection of places to eat and drink, from tea and cake to bars to splendid restaurants; there really is something for everyone. From The Glebe, you can take a leisurely walk along the edge of Lake Windermere or, why not take the weight off your feet and enjoy a trip on Windermere Lake Cruises? The cruises have several stop options, including Lakeside and the Lakes Aquarium, Ambleside, the Brockhole Visitor Centre or the National Trust property, Wray Castle.
Take a trip to The Old Laundry Theatre, and the young ones will love The World of Beatrix Potter! Step back in time at the traditional Royalty Cinema, offering the latest movies and a Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ from a by-gone era, which can be heard in concert or alongside a silent movie. Further afield, Kendals castle ruins, museums and shopping, and Amblesides bustling town centre are a short ride away. For those seeking to explore the great outdoors, why not take the car ferry across Lake Windermere to Grizedale Forest, with its excellent walking and mountain biking trails, and high rope tree-top adventure course at Go Ape? If the weather isnt so great, visit Rheged, where you will find local food producers, gift-ware and exhibitions, or take in a 3D film on their enormous movie screen.
Families and friends alike will enjoy this wonderful cottage, providing a great base for exploring this fantastic region, at any time of year.
With a charter granted in 1262, the traditional Cumbrian market town of Wigton still holds a market each Tuesday in the covered market hall. This lovely town is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, as well as for other activities such as theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. The Lord Melvyn Bragg novel, 'A Time to Dance', featured the town of Thurston, which was based on Wigton and the local area. A lovely base for a holiday exploring Cumbria and the Scottish Borders.

Not a relaxing stay. The whole place needs a deep clean, inside and out. Bedroom pillows were old and lacked stuffing and badly needed replacing, fusty smell in the downstairs bedrooms that our guests complained of. The sheets were marked and stained. Chopping boards in the kitchen were disgusting. Kettle leaked. The gutters leaked really badly front and back, broken furniture in the rear garden, bbq was unusable, even after I attempted to clean it. The whole place needs some serious maintenance and cleaning, weeds everywhere front and back. Owner notified and complaint sent to Sykes.

From arriving, following a kind phone call from Judith, the owner, to leaving 7 days later, we enjoyed every moment of our holiday, to celebrate a special birthday. Everything we needed had been thought of: a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds in spacious bedrooms, a cosy living and dining room and plenty of hot water and warm heating. The house is in a great location. Peaceful, but near enough to walk into Bowness with all its amenities. A choice of two areas to enjoy the outside in good weather with ample seating and tables are available. Judith was quick to respond and very helpful when I had a question (this was not regarding any problem or negative issue with the house at all). The personal approach was much appreciated. Would we return again? Yes, definitely! All in all, a perfect week. Thank you Judith.
