About this property

Risdene is a cosy 3 bedroom bungalow set in beautiful countryside on the banks of the River Thurne, close to Potter Heigham in Norfolk. It benefits from a 70'/23m river frontage, making it ideal for boating and fishing enthusiasts or those who simply wish to sit and relax watching the boats go by. This property is accessed by boat (water taxis are available) or by a 15-20 minute walk along the river bank footpath. A dedicated car park space near the bridge is available for your use. Step into Risdene and you will discover comfortable chairs in the sun porch, where you can enjoy your morning coffee and admire the riverside views of passing sailing boats, ducks and swans. It is perfect for bird watchers (books and binoculars are provided), and if you are lucky you may glimpse a kingfisher. Otters can also be spotted! The comfortable sitting room has a TV, DVD player and WiFi, and a large selection of books, games and jigsaw puzzles for those rainy days. A large round table at one end affords plenty of room for the family to eat a delicious meal prepared in the modern kitchen adjoining. You will also find a fresh bathroom on the ground floor with modern white fittings and a large sparkly shower. Also downstairs you will find one double bedroom with peaceful views of the countryside and the mill. A steep staircase leads you to two delightful bedrooms with a single bed in each. Two additional children could be accommodated on camp beds in each of the upstairs bedrooms. Risdene has a lovely south-facing garden with a picnic table and deckchairs. There is also an undercover patio area with table and chairs and a barbecue. You could spend your whole holiday just enjoying a spot of fishing, or going out in the rowing boat, canoe or kayaks. Children love feeding the ducks and swans which visit daily. Or, go further afield – you could hire a boat for a day or for the whole week and explore the delights of the Norfolk Broads. You could also explore the local area on foot, bike (four are available for your use) or by car. The beaches are very close – vast expanses of dune backed golden sands – with hardly any people, but where you will almost certainly see seals and their pups. For all your local amenities, Potter Heigham village is only 15-20 minutes' walk away. There are two pubs, a fish and chip shop and restaurant, bakery, post office and coffee shop. The famous Lathams store caters for all your grocery needs and also has a superb fishing department selling tackle and bait. There are often stunning sunrises and sunsets. And before you retire to bed, go out and admire the stars and the Milky Way – a huge horizon and no streetlamps means amazing starry nights. Risdene is the ideal waterside retreat for families and couples alike.
