Chère Amie is a 1973 Westerly Pageant 23’ sailing yacht, previously moored at Wells for 14 years and the owners’ family had many sailing adventures up and down the North Norfolk coast on it during that time. It’s now come home to Rosslyn and has been transformed into a cracking place to stay for romantic breaks and family weekends. There is a shared outdoor pool on-site so pack your swimming costumes and really enjoy yourselves. This accommodation consists of two parts. A dayroom on the jetty with a sitting area, a large picture window looking out into the woods and a cosy wood-burning stove for evenings in. There are four tub chairs and a coffee table.

Then there’s the quintessential boat! Chère Amie, moored up to the jetty. It’s an open plan set up with a cooking area and sleeping area. It is heated and cooled by an air source heat pump. There is a shower block with individual wet rooms including a family-sized wet room with baby changing facilities. There is plenty to do on this site, which was once owned by the headmaster of the local school and had original shepherd’s huts on site. The natural woodland setting allows for ample opportunities to see bats, owls, deer and foxes.

With world-renowned award-winning beaches such as Holkham and Sheringham nearby, and the harbour at Wells-next-the-sea, there are many exciting opportunities for days out in the local area. The Broads National Park is an area of Norfolk which offers some really different experiences during your stay.

This was the perfect venue for our week holiday in Norfolk! We travelled with 2 adults and 2 children (5 and almost 3) and both kids were in total awe over the boat, and kept asking to go back to it during days out and had to repeatedly be reassured that we would indeed be sleeping on a boat again that night. A good degree of adult supervision is required with younger children as it’s quite high up (5 was fine but almost 3 had to be kept under close supervision). The heated outdoor pool is brilliant (great that you can book it out for a private swim too) and the owners (and their parrot!) are lovely, helpful and accommodating. The location felt super safe and was a good base for visiting various attractions (roarr, pensthorpe, holt, sheringham etc). Price was very reasonable too. Thank you very much!

Had a wonderful time staying in the boat in the woods with my husband and two children (age 5 and 7). So peaceful and quiet in the woods. The hut is such a perfect add on which gives you a bit of ‘breathing space’ if it rains, and a great wildlife spotting point! Luckily though we had fabulous weather with no rain. The heated pool was a massive highlight. Surrounded by wild flowers, it was the perfect place to unwind. There are numerous beaches nearby (half hour drive), all stunning it seems. And we also went on a boat trip on the broads. Just be aware, little ones need a lot of supervision on this little set-up (the boat is raised off the ground). I’d say not suitable for under 5s! Claire and Richard were such friendly and helpful hosts. They even own a Macaw called Scooby - what a delight.

We had an amazing time glamping here. It’s a really special and quirky place, peaceful but plenty to do and explore on site and nearby. Friendly and welcoming owners.
